The Bicentennial edition of the Perquimans County
Historical Society Year Book is now available. The forty
page booklet is divided into three parts. Part one, "The
Harveys, the Albemarle and the Revolution," tells how the
area's colonial history prepared it for revolution. Part two,
"Minutes of Perquimans County Court, July Term 1777,"
illustrates homefront activities of the newly-independent
local government. " Part three, ''Perquimans'
Revolutionary War- Pensioners," gives brief
biographies of seven old soldiers, including the humorous
story of what private Goodwin did to his commanding of
ficer. The book. exDlores the nature of the American
Revolution, telling who supported it here and. why they did

sored July 3 by the Perquimans County Jaycees. A Chicken
Fry and an evening of fun will cost only $2. The fun Dart of
the evening has teams from various townships competing in
unusual events similar to the television program,
"Anything Goes."

HORSE SHOW ON THE FOURTH The Perquimans
County Horse and Pony Club will sponsor their annual
Fourth of July shown beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at
the club ring site located four miles west of Hertford. Pic
tured above, Hope Harrell awaits her turn to ride. Classes
to be featured at the show will include speed, western
pleasure, and roadster pony. There is no admission charge
and the concession stand will be open.
