In its one hundred and twenty-five years of ex istence,, Whiteville Grove Baptist Church, has never witnessed a more im pressive or deeply moving service than the one con ducted Sunday afternoon, Feb., 13, 1977 when William Byrum .: was ' ordained a Minister of the. Byrum closed the service by pronouncing the benediction. He now becomes the Pastor of the Whiteville Grove Church and extends a welcome to all to come to the services. It's -good to remember after a moving service like the one we witnessed that we go to church not because' we are so conscious of our own goodness, but, because we are so conscious of the need of God's power in our lives. Cookies, ham biscuits and nuts were .served to a large crowd. - The new pastor is well known in the county, he is principal of Perquimans County High School.
