Pw 7-Th Perqulmam Wp-kly, Hertford, N.C., Thursday. Junt M. If77 Letter From Our Readers: Editor's Mailbag Help Is Needed TO THE EDITOR: . Hear Ye! Hear Ye! To the Citizens of Hertford and Out lying Areas: ' When I moved to this marvelous little town, I found what people are really all about never have I seen so much thoughtfutoess and caring about each other's feelings. I would personally object to any change in this feeling, so I want to make you aware of something that is taken for granted so often. This town has a marvelous Rescue Squad and Fire Department which work on a volunteer basis and are always there when they are needed. -In order to keep a good working squad, we must have new fiilunteers recruited each year. The only requirement is that you are a willing person to Volunteer your time and that you are 18 years of age. In Order to better understand the rescue work and the proper techniques, an 81-hour course is offered to the members, free of charge. ' Please notify Mr. Emmett Elmore, president; or any Rescue Squad member, if you're interested. We need your help! MRS. MARSHA MASSEY Grubb Street Hertford, N.C. Great Coverage TO THE EDITOR: Although we are no longer members of Homemakers Clubs, we would like to express our personal thanks to Ms. ;Kathy Newbern, for her great coverage of the recent county-wide tour of homes, new and remodeled. Her ex ; cellent pictures and write-up of the event were styled to show those persons not attending that they missed a very enjoyable afternoon. And for those of us who served as hostesses at the tour homes, it gave us a peek at the other homes. ' For us, it was especially nice seeing old friends whom we had not seen for some time, as well as meeting new persons. Ms. Newbern was so gracious in carrying on her job; it - was a pleasure to see and talk with her. So thanks again to her, and the entire staff of The Perquimans Weekly, for making our county newspaper one of which we can be proud. And a note to those persons having newsworthy events coming up, if you don't notify the paper in advance of these happenings, there's not a way they can know of them to give "coverage. Well, I have some logic' First, if you spot a need for Dad, by all means, go ahead and fill it Second, if Dad hints he needs a cer tain item, then "presto," your problem is again solved. But, third, if you are still baffled, then experi ment. Experiment with an inexpensive camera kit, a fancy pipe, or maybe a wild fragrance cologne something Dad'd never pick himself, yet some: thing he may use and come to love just the same. Then, next year, he may demand the ' same or else, Experiment again! R.Ph The proposed budget for fiscal year 1977-78 was filed with and tentatively accepted by the town council on June 6, 1977.
