UNDERWOOD, Home Economics Extension Agent Furniture Care Most furniture polishes contains bees-wax. Bees-wax puts a shine on the finish. However, bees-wax never gets hard. Therefore, it traps the dust and will become discolored. This discoloration will hide the beauty of the wood. If you set or lay something damp or hot on a waxed table you will get a white spot. The wax is what turns white. This wax traps the moisture in. If the white spot is ignored, the moisture goes down into the finish and on into the wood which then turns dark. To remove white rings, toothpaste containing pumice will work according to Frank Broadnax, who recently held a refinished furniture workshop in Per quimans County, v . ; To remove a white ring from furniture, a black heel mark from your floor, or a leaf stain from an automobile with toothpaste, use a soft cloth, wet the cloth, squeeze out all the water you can and apply some toothpaste on the cloth. Rub out the white ring, black heel marks, leaf stains, etc. Alan Barnes, of Snug Har bor last weekend. Mrs. Finn and her two sons spent the week in their summer camp in Snug Harbor.
