New Bookmobile Routes and Schedule .
I' The Perquimans County Library is about to undertake
Some major changes in bookmobile service. The current
.bookmobile is being retired in the next couple of weeks and
;its duties will be assumed by a newer, larger; air-conditioned
bookmobile from the Pettigrew Regional Library of
'which Perquimans County is a member along with the
libraries in Edenton, Plymouth and Columbia.
Instead of the house-to-house stops that have been made
;bver the years, the new bookmobile routes will consist of
;30-minute stops at churches and stores scattered around the
county. Current bookmobile users who are unable to make
'the short trip to one of the scheduled stops due to infirmity
3r lack of transportation will continue to receive library ser
vice, but from a new, economical outreach station wagon
: which will be used to deliver books selected for them from
3the library much as books are selected for many of the
bookmobile users now. The library staff is encouraging all
current bookmobile users who are in good health and who
;Jiave transportation to go to one of the new stops. Again,
;-those who are unable to go to one of the new stops can still
i-have books delivered to their homes. Every user on the cur-

: This new system will enable the Perquimans County
; Library to serve county residents much better than the cur
rent system since it will result in almost double the "road
rtime" with the new schedule and will systematically serve
tall areas of the county on a three-week cycle of stops while
' the new outreach vehicle will allow the library to provide
customized homebound service to individuals when this is
r.necessary.
Zv The following is a three-month schedule of bookmobile
;-stops in Perquimans County. All of these stops will be made
en Fridays on the three-week cycle matched to the three
. "-new routes. These stops were selected through staff discus
sion with a view to picking the best stops in all areas of the
county. After the three-month trial period, revisions will be
