A recent activity of pro gram participants has been the completion of a quilt under the direction of Mrs. Sarah Eason, chairman of the quilting party. The quilt was raffled netting a profit of $125 for program par ticipants, which will probably be used to offset expenses of a trip. Tickets for the quilt raffle were sup plied through the courtesy of the Bank of N.C. Mrs. Reid expressed ap preciation to those par ticipating in this and other programs and encourages other citizens 60 years of age or older to consider willlmW .Jm-f I it Kiss Your Baby Campaign Begins Perquimans County will join in with the State Kiss the Baby Campaign, Sept 1-30. The State Campaign Chairperson for North Carolina is George W. Little. The purpose of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to support research in children's lung-damaging diseases such as asthma with lung damage, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis childhood emphysema, and cystic fibrosis, the most serious of all. More than 6,000,000 American children suffer with one or more of these lung damaging diseases of which there are 150,000 in North Carolina alone. Many of these youngsters are treated at the Duke Cystic Fibrosis Center which is supported by the foundation. Students Help In Orientation RALEIGH - When in coming Peace College freshmen arrived on cam pus Aug. 21, they were greeted by a host of smiling sophomores offering help ing hands. The Peace sophomores, including two from this area, welcomed the new students, assisted in mov ing their luggage and alleviated their fears and apprehensions. More than 200 freshmen moved onto the Peace cam pus and were kept busy with meetings, counseling sessions and placement tests. Lewis Presents Paper James Mackey Lewis recently presented a paper at the Joint Mathematics Meeting in Seattle, Wash. His paper, entitled "Con tinuous Convergence in C(X)," was presented to the Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Fraternity and was sponsored by the N.C. Delta Chapter at East Carolina University.
