Thursday, September 1, 1977 Bethel-Snug Harbor Community News By KATHLEEN BRENNAMAN The choir of the Bethlehem Church of Christ went to the Everett's Crossroads Church of Christ last week to sing for revival services being held ; there. Mr. and MrsFrank H. Harrington Jr. spent five days visiting their son, Frank B. and his family in Va. Beach last week. Dur ing the week another son, David, of Eatonton, N.J. and his wife came down to Hampton, Va. joining with the Harrington daughter, Mrs. Lon Humphreys, her husband and three sons, all coming on to Va. beach to help celebrate . Frank B. Harrington's tenth wedding anniversary. PLEASE note the follow ing correction to last week's announcement of a Teenage Dance on Sat. Sept. 3, and a Barbecue, on Sept. 4 at Snug Harbor. Both affairs are for Snug Harbor Property Owners and their guests only. Neither affair is open to the public. Regretfully this was not made clear in last week's announcement. Mrs. Henry Crank and daughter of Elizabeth City were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Crank's sister, Mrs. Charles Philips at Philip's Landing. Robert Murray spent last weekend in Chapel Hill visiting former classmates at the University. It is hoped she will soon be returning home, v Blake Weston, son of Mrs. Evie Curtis, is improving following emergency surgery at a Va. Beach Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Esmond Sadler Jr. and son of Eure, were weekend visitors of Mrs. Sadler's mother, Mrs. Kathleen Brennaman. The Young Married Class of Bethel Baptist Church held a picnic at Hobbs Landing on Aug. 27. The af fair was much enjoyed by the members and their guests numbering about 35. Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Proc tor Jr. and son Jeff have returned from a vacation spent at High Point, N.C. The Mission Study Group of Bethel Baptist Church met at the Community House on Monday, Aug. 22, with Mrs. Ruth Mansfield as hostess. Mrs. Clara Perry presented the pro gram. Mrs. Helen Sawyer president, presided. Mrs. Mary Frances Corprew is secretary. Various reports were given and items of business discussed. The Scrabble Four met on Aug. 24 with Mrs. Lester Simpson at the Snug Har bor Marina. Other members of the foursome were Mrs. Elaine Philips, Mrs. Ethel White, and Mrs. Kathleen Brennaman. ' Merritt Receives Degree , Marshall Merritt, Chief of the Hertford' Police Department, was awarded the Associate in Applied Science Degree in the area of Police Science Technology at the 10th Annual Commencement Exercises for Beaufort County Technical Institute held Friday night at the First Baptist Church in Washington, N.C. vv The commencement ad-v dress was delivered by Howard N. Lee, Secretary of the N.C. Department vl Natural and Economic Resources. Lee urged the graduates to remain in the state where their leader ship is needed at colleges, universities, and in industries. He said, "This state has great potential for growth and expansion." He also urged the candidates to follow a philosophy to "be the best or not at all." Williams manages part of the Deerfield Vineyards as well as operating over 100 acres of corn and soybean land in the eastern section of the county, He became a cooperator with the Albemarle Const, vation District in 1973.
