Mrs. Mitchell attends Winslow Grove AME Zion - Church and has served as church organist for an ac cumulation of 15 years. She is a 1961 graduate of Perquimans Union School, Winfall and received a Bachelar of Arts Degree from North Carolina Cen tral University in Durham in 1965. Mrs. Mitchell is a former VISITS PARENTS Suzanne Stokes, student at UNC-Chapel Hill, spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stokes Jr. She had as her weekend guest, Mike Niver of Wintergreen, Va. Social Worker of the North Carolina Department of Social Services, a position which she held for years. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Burke of Et. 2. and the wife of Morris E. Mitchell an d mother of two children, Scottie 7, and Traci 4. The public is inrited to attend. r ' ? Retreat is set Saturday, March 18 has been selected by the United Methodist Women of the Elizabeth City District as the day of their Christian Personhood Retreat. The theme this year is, "Reaching Out." The retreat will be held at the Plymouth United Methodist Church beginning at 10 a.m. and closing around 2:30 p.m. The leader will be the Rev. Nancy R. Best, pastor of the Harrellsville Charge. Participants are asked to bring a sandwich lunch: beverages will be furnished. It is the hope of the District officers that those who attend will really ex perience a "day of renew ing" and will go away with a new zeal for fulfilling the purpose of the United Methodist Women in the year 1978. Surprise celebration The Willing Workers Sun day School Class of Bethel Baptist Church met for a regular meeting on March 6 at the home of Mrs. Lenna Griffin. Following the meeting, class members surprised Sunday School teacher Isabelle Simmons with a corsage and birthday cake made by Mary Irvin Long. Twenty were present for the meeting and surprise birthday celebration. COUNCIL ON AGING TO MEET The March meeting of the Albemarle Advisory Coun cil on Aging will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, March 16, at the Edenton Municipal Building in Edenton, N.C. All members are urged to attend. The guest speaker will be Zeb Taylor from the Tideland Mental Health Center. Taylor will discuss the problem of drug abuse among the elderly. i HONORED "Min Jo Davis Towels honored at a luncheon ta Richmond, Va. on Wednesday of last week in recognition of ten years of work at the Medical College of Virginia. Miss Towe is Supervisor of the Neurology Depart Mrs. C.A. Davenport was hostess to her bridge club Thursday afternoon at her home on Front Street. Those playing were Mrs. J.R. Futrell, Mrs. J.H. CARD CLUBS MEET Newbold, Mrs. S.M. Whedbee, and Mrs. C.R. Holmes. Mrs. Futrell won the high score prize.
