Among the various activities of the week was this display of arts & crafts items on the courthouse green. A SPECIAL TREAT ? Also held in con junction with the special week's activities was a homemade ice cream sale on the courthouse green Friday sponsored by the Belvidere Extension Homemakers Club. YOUNG VOICES ? Tony Copeland is spen ding a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Copeland, prior to accepting a position in Raleigh for the summer. 4-H talent winners named 1 Top winners in the Per quimans County Annual 4-H 1 Talent Night were named May S when the show was held at the Perquimans County Office Building at 8 p.m. The top Blue Ribbon win ner was Fay Denise Wills, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Leroy Wills of Rt. 3, Hert ford. She is a member of Pools Grove 4-H Club. Mrs. Emma Burke, Mrs. Lucky Johnikins, and William Turner are the 4-H leaders. She had 375 points for her acrobatic talents. The next three contestants tied with 330 points each. They were Janice Talley, Mary Margaret White, and Deanne Ashley. Janice Talley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Talley of Rt. 1, Hert ford. She is a member of Harvey's Point 4-H Club ^ where Mrs. Levi Brothers is club leader. Her talent was an individual modern jus number. Mary Margaret White is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George White Jr. of Crescent Dr., Hertford. She is a member of the Busy Bees 4-H Club where Mrs. Da Gray White is leader. She and Deanne Ashley did in impersonation skit. Deanne, also a member of the Busy Bees 4-H Club, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Ashley of Co vent Garden St, Hertford. Flora Hinton, daughter of Ifr. and Mrs. Odell Hurdle, was declared the 1978 Dress Elevue Winner. She is a member of the BAG 4-H :iub where Mrs. Eva Hur tle and Mrs. Louise Riddick ire leaders. The alternates were Alice Write and Cornelius Mack. Judges were Mrs. Deborah Ann Jordan, Mrs. Ida House, and Mrs. Wayne Ashley. Refreshments were served by the following leaders: Mrs. George Bell Fain, Mrs. Ida Rouse, and Mrs. Emma Burke. During the meeting, Mrs. Emma Burke, President of the 4-H Leaders Organiza tion, explained the upcom ing activities. She joins Mrs. M.B. Taylor, Home Economic Extension Agent, in thanking the judges, 4-H members, parents, 4-H boosters, leaders and friends in making the talent program a success. During the social hour, special selections were given by the B&G 4-H Club under the direction of Mrs. Carolyn Williams, instruc tor at Central Grammar School in Pasquotank Coun ty; the Busy Bees; and representatives from the Perquimans County High School Chorus. The majority of the association were in favor of shortening the name of our organization. Of the four names suggested, NORTH ESATE ELECTRICAL ASSOCIATION received the most votes and was made unanimous as the new name for the seven-counaty elec trical association. NORTHESATERN ELECTRIAL ASSOCIA TION electricians from Cur rituck, Camden, Dare, Pas quotank, Perquimans, Gates, and Chowanties meet every month to keep abreast of current changes and events in the electrical trade and to futher educate one another in the everchanging material of the National Electrical Code. This month a program on transformers was given Dan Dan Shepherd, Charlie Felton and Bob Richardson of the Shepherd Electrical Supply Company and the Hevi-duty Electric Company. June 30th will be the end of the fiscal .year and the beginning of the 3rd year of operation. New Officers will be nomiated for the July election to fill the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary-Tresurer and the Board of Direction of the assocation Anybody, male or female, in the electrical trade as a helper, mechanic, super visor, sed man or contractor is welcome to attend any of the meetings.
