Play continues Monday through Thursday nights at Union School. Trie Kilowatts and Betty's Boutique are holding down first places at the moment. Girls' Softball continues for three more weeks. Three teams Edenton 1 and 2 and Hertford 2, are tied for first place. The T-baseball group is progressing real well. They should be ready to play in about a week or so. The boys practice in the play-ground lot across from the Recreation office. The Babe Ruth All-Star teams did real well last week in Maneto with both the 13-year old and the 14-15 age group win the District 28 title. Both the teams (day in Windsor this week in the Area 6 tournament which will determine the Area's representative to the state tournament. mm wm?. (Staff photos by Paige Eure) All-Stars take titles The Albemarle Babe Ruth League 13-year old All-Stars captured the District 28 title with a come from behind 4-2 vic tory over the Manteo All Stars Friday night. In the best two out of three, Manteo won 1-0 with the Albemarle team win ning 9-1 and 4-2. A1 Bunch pitched the first and third games with Robert Cofield pitching the second for the local team. The team will play at 6 p.m. Thursday night at Davis Field in Windsor. They will meet the winner of the Greenville-Windsor game. They downed the Manteo team in two games, the lat ter being 5-2 in eight inn ings. They will play in Windsor July 12 at 8:30 p.m. against Windsor. The 14-15 team is coached by Ralph Jordan, Johnnie Winslow, and Tony Jordan. The 13-year old team is v coached by Billy Wooten, A1 Bunch, and Milton Coston. VICTORY COOKOUT The Albemarle 13-year old All-Star District 28 Champions were guests at a cookout Sunday night given by their coaches and several parents at the Gill Underwood Home in Hertford. More than 30 people were present. Billy Wooten, who manages the team, thanked the boys for their efforts in the District Tour nament and wished them equal success in the Area Tournament this week. Those present were: Bil ly Wooten, Melvin Coston, Donnie Parker, Wayne Chappell, Wade Stanton, Chris Perry, Jim Under wood, David White, all of Hertford; and Bill Whichard, A1 Bunch, Rob Cofield, Jeff Carter, Scott Castelloe, Chuck Forward, and Skipper Hones. Albemarle League to host tourney The Albemarle Area American Legion Baseball team has accepted a challenge from the former Albemarle League to play one more baseball game this season. The Albemarle Area League of yesterday con sisted of teams from Gates, Hertford and Eden ton. They are inviting all former players of tnese teams to participate in an effort to demonstrate that age and experience can overcome youth and determation. The game has been scheduled for Saturday, July 15 at 8 p.m. on Hicks Field in Edenton. There will be a $1 admis sion fee for 12 years and older.
