Johnny Jackson, first; Alex Cox, second; and Brad Hurdle, third. 10- YEAR OLDS ? Moving on up age wise, winners pic tured above in the 10-year old group included (1. to r.) Tarkenton who is a patient in De Paul Hospital in Norfolk. ; Mrs. Mary Lou Sutton of Shelby and Carl Britt of Charlotte were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Britt at their cot tage at White Hat. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Perry attended the Annual Meeting of North Carolina Bankers Association in Greenville during the weekend. Kermit Kirby of Norfolk visited friends in Hertford on Wednesday of last week. 1 Mrs. Virginia Lambdin !of Baltimore and Mrs. ;John Ludford of Elizabeth City were guests of Mrs. Reba Owens on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Feddie Combs and family and Francis Combs and son Chris, of Raleigh visited friends in Hertford on Friday. Edwin White of Belvidere is a patient at South Hampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Va. Mrs. Phillip Jackson is spending some time in Alexandria as a guest of ?Mr. and Mrs. Dick Cone. The first game will match the Edenton Red- ? skins and the Bank of North Carolina. The Bankers are coached by Wayne Ashley, George White and John Lavezzo. In the second game, the Edenton Oilers will go against Albemarle Home Builders. The Builders are led by Mack Nixon and Tommy Tilley. Admission to Horse show The Perquimans County Horse and Pony Club will sponsor a horse show on Saturday, Oct. 7, starting at 6 p.m. The show ring is on Joe Perry's farm four miles west of Hertford. The program consists of classes for adults and children. Among these are halter, trail, western and English pleasure, and speed events. Spectors will be entertained by all events plus the concession stand will be open. the games is .25 for children and .50 for adults. Several members of the Memory Lane Senior Citizen Club went on a tour of New Bern last Tuesday. We had a real good turnout for the Slimnastics Class, which will meet each Tuesday night, 7 p.m. at the Perquimans High School Gym. If you would like to sign up call the Recreation Department. Peanut Festival includes horse show ( The Edenton-Chowan Band Parents Association is sponsoring its third an nual Peanut Festival Oc tober 7-0. The Peanut Festival is designed to pro vide entertainment for the entire family, and one of the more popular features is the horse show. Overton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Overton of Rt. 3, Box 370, Hertford, N.C., has com pleted the Assault Amphi bian Vehicle Unit Leader's Course. The eight-week school was conducted at Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. The course was designed to train selected noncommis sion: officers for duty as platoon sergeants of assault amphibian vehicle companies. It emphasized the techniques of leader ship and platoon tactics. The course centered on the safe operation of Vehicles, procedures of communication and security.
