Chaffin presided at the regular session of Perquimans County District Court and heard the following cases: Willie Rogers Brooks, charged with driving under the influence (2nd offense), received a ninety day sentence suspended for 2 years, was told not to drive until licens ed to do so, not to violate any laws for a period of twelve months, report to Mental Health within one day, abide by instructions, and to keep appointments. Shirley T. Cooper was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, which were consolidated for judge ment. The defendant was given a ninety day jail sentence. John Henry Askew was found gulity of assault on a female and received a nine months sentence suspended for 3 years, a fine of $150 and cost. The defendant was ordered not to assault the prosecuting witness for a period of 3 years and not to violate any laws for twelve months. Colleen Marie Aldridge's charges of speeding greater than resonable and prudent, and failure to drive on the right half of highway, were consolidated for judgement. The defendant received ninety day sentence suspended for 2 years, a fine of $200 and cost was told not to operate a motor vehicle in North Carolina until licensed to do so, and not to violate any laws for twelve months. An ap peal was noted. Kathleen Felton was found gulity of simple assault and received a thirty day sentence suspended for 3 years, was ordered to pay costs of court, was told not to v violate any laws for a period of twelve months, not to assault either parents for a period of 3 years, and not to cause any problem for parents for 3 years (in home). Josua Warren Overton's first appearance for a charge of Robbery with a dangerous weapon was held on Wednesday, and the Probalbe Cause was found in the case of Joseph Riddick, charged with forgery and utter ing, and the case was placed on the Superior Court Docket for trial. Ronald Dean Harper, charged with assualt by pointing a gun, was given a thirty day sentence suspended for 2 years, a fine of $25 and cost. The defen dant was told not to violate any laws for twelve months, and not to have a gun off his premises for a period of twelve months. John Willie Skinner's Probable Cause Hearing for bigamy was held and the case was placed on Superior Court Docket trial; Lester T. Keel, Jr. was found not guilty of unauthorized use of a conveyance. People in the News i Mrs. Dewey Perry, Jr. spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Tarkenton of St. Petersburg Fla., and 1 Mr. and Mrs. George Gin neman of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She visited Disney World and the Sunden Gardens At St. Pete. Mrs. Audrey Goodman visited relatives in Ports mouth for a few days last 1 week. The Perquimans County Jaycettes So often we are ready to complain or condemn our public services-utility companies, etc. I'd like to take this opportunity to commend one of them.The Town of Hertford Electricity Co. Saturday evening around 6 p.m. I discovered I had no electricity. I called the numbers listed in the book with no success. I called Mayor Cox to find out what I should do. He said he'd call right back. Within 5 minutes he did. Within 30 minutes my service was restored. Mayor Cox and the Servicemen not only give prompt and efficient service but apologized for the inconvience to me. That's service to be proud of. Thank you. Margaret A.
