The films are borrowed through the State Library which has a large collection of both feature films, such as "African Queen," and shorter films on a variety of topics. American Heart Association WE'RE FIGHTING FOR VOUR LIFE Pirates take two The Perquimans Pirate* downed Murfreesboro 11-58 in overtime Friday night to bring its record to 8-2 oo the year. Junior guard Johnny Frierson led Pirate scorers with 1< points. Earlier in the week, the Pirates had rolled over Camden 67-56 despite early foul trouble. Ellis Everette led scorers with 18 points while Mike Holley ripped down 18 rebounds in that contest. Tomorrow night (Friday) the Pirates take on Gumberry at home. The Perquimans Jayvees also won their Friday night game against Murfreesboro 71-65, leaving them with a 5-1 record. The Lady Pirates, however, lost another one, 74-44. Adult basketball will be played Monday and Thursday night at the Union Gym at 7, 8, and 9 p.m. each night. The Perquimans Union Tigers play at home today (Thursday), against the always strong Elizabeth City team. Games are after school, with a small admission charge. This group of hard working young ladies raised almost HM in their "Rock for Rec" held in September. Our thanks go out , to them. Chowan wins tourney The Midget Basketball Holiday Tournament, between teams from Chowan and Perquimans Counties, was won last week by the Hawks of Chowan County. They defeated the Nuggets of Perquimans County in the championship game. 39-34. The Perquimans team was led by Johnny Gallops with 20 points, and Rodney Lyons with 12. The Hertford Junior Leagwe team got its season off to a disappointing start last week with a 42-37 loss to Edewtw. Hertford was led by Richard Mach with 15 and Jin Un derwood, who chipped in M.
