fruit trees as part of its 1980
campaign to encourage tree
planting.
The Arbor Day Foundation,
a non-profit organization, is
working to improve the
quality of life in communities
throughout the country by
encouraging tree planting.
The Foundation will give
three fruit trees to new
members contributing $10 or
more. Each tree will be 3 to 4
feet tall. All trees will be
ready for planting and will be

Court:
On the Civil Calendar
divorces were granted to
Pricilla M. Outlawh vs.
Robert Outlawh, Jr.; Wanda
Owens Gillikin vs. Johnny Ray
Gillikin; and Joseph E.
Riddick vs. Patricia H. Rid
dick.
Criminal cases included:
Robert Cooper, charged with
assualt, was given a fine of
$25.00 and cost;
Wanda Kay Owens was
found guilty of possession of
controlled substance and was
taxed with a fine of $25.00 and
cost;
William James Ashley,
charged with driving with
license revoked, received a 60
day sentence suspended with
unsupervised probation, a fine
of $200.00 and cost, was or
dered to surrender his driver's
license to the court, and was
told not to operate a motor
vehicle in North Carolina until
duly relicensed. A certified
copy of the judgment was to be
sent to the Virginia Depart
ment of Motor Vehicles;
Aaron Alfred Reid was
found guilty of selling malt
beverage after required hours
and was given a 60 day sen
tence suspended for 2 years, a
fine of $100.00 and cost, and
was told not to be convicted of
violation of 18A - North
Carolina, for 2 years.
Jake L. White, III, was
found guilty of reckless
driving after drinking and was
taxed with a fine of $100.00 and
