Booster Club will meet Monday.

Albemarle Medical Assistants meet
Regular meeting of the Albemarle
Area Medical Assistants was held at
the Chowan Medical Center in
Edenton recently.
Olin Sykes. CPA, gave a very in
formative talk on accounting systems
in the physician's office. Members
were reminded of the Winter Seminar
at Wilkes Community College,
Wilkesboro
The club was also reminded of the
Annual Convention to be held April IS
IS at the Sheraton Center in Charlotte.
The next regular meeting will be
held tonight. Feb. 4, in Elizabeth City.
All members are urged to attend.

Bandmasters Association
Eastern District All-State
Junior High School Band.

PERRY
CORAPEAKE, NC ? Lessie Jordan
Perry, 78, died Thursday night in Unit
B of Chowan Hospital in Edenton.
She was a native of Chowan County
and the widow of Marcus Augustus
Perry. She was a member of Eureka
Baptist Church and its Women's
Missionary Union, and also a charter
member of the Albemarle Craftmen's
Guild. She had been active in a Gates
County Home Demonstration Club.
Survivors include two daughters,
Mrs. Samuel I. Morgan of Corapeake
and Mrs. Elmore Felton of Eure; a
son, William A. Perry of Edenton;
three sisters, Mrs. Fred White of
Edenton, Mrs. John Lane of Spot
sylvania. Va., and Susie Bradley of
Hampton, Va.; two brothers. Isaac
Jordan of Hertford and Rev. Alphonso
Jordan of Winston-Salem; ten
grandchildren and ten great
grandchildren.
A funeral was held at 2 p.m.
Saturday in Eureka Baptist Church
by Dr. Floyd Enzor. Burial followed in
the church cemetery. Swindell-Bass
Funeral Home of Edenton was in
charge.
HARRELL
Daniel Harrell of Route 1. died last
Tuesday in Elder Lodge Rest Home of
Edenton.
A native of Perquimans County, he
was the son of the late James and
Mrs. Sarah Sutton Harrell and the
husband of the late Harriett Harrell.
He was a retired farmer and was a
member of New Bethel Missionary
Baptist Church of Hertford where he
was a church deacon, Sunday School
teacher, usher, and church secretary.
Survivors include seven daughters.

TX, and Kermit Harrell of Copiague,
N.Y.; a sister. Georgianna Riddick of
Hertford; a brother. Lloyd Harrell of
Hempstead. N.Y.; 36 grandchildren;
and 22 great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held at 1 p.m. on
Saturday in New Bethel Missionary
Baptist Church by Revs. Cain
Jeannette and S.L. Lawrence. Burial
followed in the church cemetery.

HURDLE
VIRGINIA BEACH. VA. - Percy
Hurdle, 69, of 4744 Lonewillow Lane,
died last Wednesday at Leigh
Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Perquimans
County and a former resident of
Elizabeth City. He was the son of the
late Marvin and Mrs. Maggie Forbes
Hurdle and was retired from the
Naval Supply Center and was a U.S.
Navy Veteran. He was a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Evelyn
Goff Hurdle of the home; one
daughter, Linda Hurdle of Virginia
Beach; one sister, Naomi H. Merritt
of Elizabeth City; two brothers, John
Elton Hurdle of Hertford and Marvin
M. Hurdle Jr. of Virginia Beach.
Funeral services were held Friday
at 10 a.m. in Twiford's Colonial
Chapel in Great Bridge, Va. by Dr.
Owen Kelly and Rev. Robert E.
Friend, Jr. Burial followed in New
Hollywood Cemetery in Elizabeth
City.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may
be made to the Davis Corner Rescue
Squad in Virginia Beach.
BOBBINS
Annie Ruth Lewis Robbins, 76, a
lifelong resident of Durants Neck,
died Friday in a nursing home. She
was the widow of Marvin Hand
Robbins.
She was a member of New Hope
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, James
Lewis Robbins of Shreveport, La.; a
sister, Doris Kemp of North Carolina;
a brother, W. Talmadge of Hertford
and a grandchild.
A funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday
in New Hope United Methodist Church
by Rev. Ray Whitman. Burial
followed in Mullen Cemetery with
Twiford Memorial Chapel in charge.

EDENTON. NC - Isa Bunch White.
81, of Route 1, died Sunday in her
home. She was a native of Chowan
County and the widow of Watson B.
White.
She was a member of Rocky Hock
Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters,
Evelyn Parker of Sunbury, Mary
Long and Clara Perry of Hertford and
Barbara Skinner of Edenton; three
sons, Watson Earl White and Wallace
Bryant White of Edenton and Rev.
Robert C. White of Aulander; a sister,
Bertha Bunch White of Suffolk, Va.;
five brothers, Horace Bunch, John S.
Bunch and Erie Bunch of Edenton.

grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday
at 2 p.m. in Williford-Barham Funeral
Chapel by Rev. Donald Wagner. "My
Faith Looks Up to Thee" and "What a
Friend We Have In Jesus," were sung
during the service by the Rocky Hock
Baptist Church Choir, accompanied
by Mrs. Peggy Byrum, organist.
Pallbearers were grandsons and
they were: William L. Jackson, Jr.,
Murray Parker, Thomas Long, Jr.,
Louis White. Jr., Dale White; Douglas
Perry, Dean Skinner, and Carroll
Skinner. Burial followed in Beaver
Hill Cemetery.

James Kelly White. 76. of Route 1.
former sheriff of Perquimans County,
died Saturday in his home. He was a
native of Perquimans County and the
husband of Sarah Carlyle White.
He was sheriff of Perquimans
County from 1954 to 1962, and from
1962 to 1968, he served as county tax
collector and deputy sheriff.
He was a member of Hertford
United Methodist Church, the

Ruth Boyd Chappell, 77, of
Woodland Street, died Sunday in
Chowan Hospital. She was a native of
Livingston, Ala., and the widow of
George Watson Chappell.
She formerly was employed as a
housekeeper. She was a Presbyterian.

Margaret C. Copeland of Hertford and.
Betty Ruth Lumpkin of Chamblee.
Ga.; a son. Bruce Boyd Chappell Sr.
of Chapel Hill; a stepdaughter. Mabel
C. Orrof Robbinsville; a stepson, L.D.

Holliman of Linden, Ala.; two

Quiz Bowl set
Pettigrew Regional Library has
scheduled the Regional 1982 Quiz
Bowl for Tuesday, February 9 at 10
a.m. in John A. Holmes High School in
Edenton according to Elizabeth
Laney, Director of the Regional
Library.

dinating local arrangements.
Participating in the 1982 Quiz Bowl
for Pettigrew Region are the
following schools: Perquimans High
School, Columbia High School,
Plymouth High School, Creswell High
School. John A. Holmes High School
and Emmanuel School.
The teams will be quizzed on in
formation obtained from En
cyclopedia Americana, World
Almanac, Information Please
Almanac, Newsweek, and Times.
This is the third annual state wide
quiz bowl to be held in North
Carolina; but this is the first year high
schools in Pettigrew Region have ?)
participated.
The quiz bowl competition was
started and sponsored by public
libraries in an effort to recognize and
encourage the academic and
scholarly students of our schools.
The team with the highest score
from each county will participate in a
Northeastern North Carolina Quiz
Bowl to be held on March 20. That
competition will involve twelve ^
counties. The state wide competition
will be held in Raleigh on April 24.

plicants for motor vehicle registration
or license tag renewal will be required
to make the following certification on
the application form :
(1) I owe no delinquent county or
municipal taxes on this vehicle;
(2) I was the legal owner of this
vehicle on January 1 of the year of this
application and the vehicle was listed
for property taxes in (? County) in (?

(3) I was not the legal owner of this
vehicle on January 1 of the year of this

If the certifications are not entered, V '
the Motor Vehicles Division must
refuse the registration until the in
formation is furnished.
Any person who makes a false
certification is subject to a criminal
penalty of $100 or imprisonment for
six months or both.
