A Perquimans County native, she is a graduate of Perquimans County High School and is presently enrolled in the College of the Albemarle, where she is majoring in accounting. She has also completed the Dale Carnegie Course. White has been associated with Peoples Bank since May of 1973. working primarily in the commercial loan department. She is a member of the Hertford Business It Professional Women's Club. Also, White is a Director of the Executive Board and Treasurer of the Perquimans Coutny Restoration Association. Area obituaries DARDEN SUFFOLK, VA - Vergie Mae Darden, 55, of 337 Holiday Street, died Monday in her home. A native of Nansemond County, she was the widow of Claude Percy Darden, Sr. She was a member of the Sixth Street Baptist Church and its senior choir. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary Stevenson of Newport News, Va.; two stepsons, Claude P. Darden, Jr. of Courtland, Va., and Guy Darden of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Odell P. Sykes of Suffolk, Va. and Veredell McClenney of Hertford; and a brother Willie Porter of Suffolk. Va. A funeral was held at noon Saturday in Sixth Street Baptist Church by the Rev. James Washington. Scott Fitzgerald in that "Beautiful old people create themselves". Raynor, Fitness Specialist for the North Carolina Division of Aging will be accompanied by Ernest Messer. Assistant Secretary for the Division of Aging. Messer will explain diseases of the elderly that do not necessariy have to develop. Raynor, who designed and developed the AHOY (Add Health to Our Years) project which is a statewide program for maintaining and improving the physical health of older adults, will give a brief demonstration of movements which will maintain beautiful people. Her theory is that if you don't use it, you lose it. One aspect Raynor stresses is treating the whole person ? mind, body and spirit. Because of this, she has been asked to speak to medical professionals as well as physical therapists. Through her program, they have gained insight into total wellness of the person instead of a singular illness. Raynor is returning to the popular TV show as a guest of television hostess Kay Currie. BUNCH EDENTON - Mrs. Harriett Callie Goodwin Bunch. 74, of 804 Johnston Street. Edenton, died Friday in Chowan Hospital. She was a native of Chowan county and was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Mrs. Leora Privott Goodwin and the wife of Joseph A. Bunch. She was a homemaker and a member of the Edenton United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son, Joseph L. Patchxjoork course scheduled The Community Schools program will hold a free patchwork-by-hand class for beginners for five weeks beginning March 1 at the Perquimans County Extension Office. The teacher will be Caroline Pratt of Colrain, who teaches at the Roanoke Technical Institute. The class wiU be held from 9 a.m. to noon for five Mondays beginning March 1. Among other things. Pratt will teach methods of using scrap material to make patchwork quilts, and to enlarge graphs. Students must bring to class a pair of scissors, pins, and scraps of ? material.
