Even with all the raia recently, the
Ashing has been awfully good.
Down at the beaches the Blues, Spot
and Croakers have been really
cooperating in the surf and the big
news is that the Sea Mullet have been
taken in large numbers. In recent
years the Mullet have been a little
scare but they seem to be back.
The fishing in the Sound has been in
a word slow with few Rocks or White
Perch being taken.
It appears that fishing in the
Perquimans River is really starting to
heat up. Earl Ward and several other
local fishermen have been taking
some nice Spot in the river.
Along with the Spot there are ex
cellent catches of Brim and White
Perch being taken. The Bass fishing
has been fair but I'm sure it will pick
up soon.
John Elliott, with some help from
his friends Gary Reed and Clyde
Elliott, managed to land a thirty six
inch Channel Catfish out here in the
river recently.
I haven't seen John to hear his side
of the story yet but the other side is
really funny.
Fishing down at the "S" bridge is
getting better with good catches of
White Perch being takca mostly at
night.
In recent weeks we have had a lot of
people from out of tojwn here fishing.
They have come from as far as South
Carolina and they have flat been
taking some fish.
One man from Durham left here
with four coolers full of cleaned White
Perch and Brim. Most have been
curteous and respectful of our
resources and have been very nice to
the local residents
This is ? far cry from some of (he
people that fished io the Bass Tour

back.
There were reports of the tour,

safety by passing at a high rate of
speed while their boats wake almost
swamped smaller craft.
This is totally uncalled for and
should be reported to the local wildlife
officers. I just hope this was the ex
ception instead of the rule especially
if there are to be good relations out
there on the river.
See you next week.

Dear friends,
Many mourners wish
to attend the funeral

continue to the grave

proper, depending upon
the closeness of the re

bereaved family. The
graveside service is
becoming more an inti

immediate family and
very close friends.
