Midget All-Stars-The Perquimans County Midget All-Star Basketball Team defeated the Pamlico County All-Stars 36-21 in the first round of the Eastern Athletic Conference Tour nament in Tarboro. Joey Fincham was high scorer in the game with 12 points. Perquimans returned to Tarboro only to be defeated in the semi-finals by Edenton 49-17. Edenton dominated the game in scoring, defense aqd rebounding. High scorer for Edenton was Tony White with 13 points and for Perquimans, Jo Jo Parker with 9 points. Ski Film-"Ski For the Fun of It" Date: March 8, Time: 7 P.M.; Place: Senior Center. Monday, March 14, the Perquimans County Adult League All-Star Team will play the Edenton Chowan All-Stars. Game time is 7:30. Admission is 50 cents at the door. Pirates advance to finals Perquimans Pirates defeat Raiders The Perquimans Pirates defeated the Murfreesboro Raiders 80-76, Friday night at Currituck and moved into the championship game, Saturday night agaist Currituck. Starting the first qliarter, the Pirates soon led the Raiders 20-15, with Perquimans' own Ronnie Ferbee scoring 6 points and Jackson, 4. Perquimans shooting 6 for 6 at the foul line compared to the Raiders 1 for 4. In the Second quarter, the Raiders scored 25 points, holding the Pirates Local students serve clinicals Mary Wood Hurdle and Beth Swindell, seniors in the Physical Therapy Dept. of the School of Allied Health and Science at ECU, began serving the first of their two scheduled clinicals on February 14 Mary Wood at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla., and Beth at the Veteran's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. In addition to actual patient care, the 6-weeks clinical gives the student actual experience in areas in which the Physical Therapist is involved such as administration and patient care plans. to 22 points offensively. George Long, coming off the bench, scored 10 points, compared to Jacksons' S. Brafford Frierson scored the first of his 13 points in the third quarter, helping the Pirates to stay within 2 points of the Raiders. At the end of the 3rd quarter, the Pirates trailed by 2 going into the fourth quarter with a score of 42-40 Raiders. The fourth quarter was opened with the Raiders attacking Jackson every time he recieved the ball. Jackson shot 4 times, sinking only one basket.
