".f - , Public Forum on Children ' A [tublic forum on children in Perquimans County will be held at hertford Grammar School on Thursday, April 28 beginning at 7 p.m. This forum will be a part of the celebration of the Week of the Young Child in Perquimans County which began April 24. The Week and forum are being sponsored by a committee of local people ?who represent a variety of agencies and organizations which provide services [to the children and their families of the county. I Week of the Young Child is celebrated across the nation to increas public ! awareness about the importance of children's early years and the services '?available to support families in their efforts to offer the best growing and har ming opportunities for their children. Cope land, 56, of 1718 Crescent Drive, a native at Hertford, died last Tuesday in a hospital. He had retired from the Army as a personnel specialist and from the civil serviee as an accountant. Cope land was an air corps veteran of World War'II. He was a member of Army-NavyJH sonic Lodge SM. Survivors ihclude a sister, Mrs. Hilber Harris of Elisabeth City. A private graveside service was held lsst Thursday in Cedarwood Cemetery. Tiwford memorial Chapel was in charge. MILLER Mrs. Annie Miller, 82, died Tuesday in Albemarle Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Berry Jenkins and Mr*. Emma Jenkins. Survivors include two sons, Lee and Clifton Jenkins of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Mocile WUkins of Brooklyn. N.Y., Mrs. Lettie C. Green of Elisabeth City and Mrs. Virginia MaUory of Hertford; two stepsons, Charles and Cecil Miller of Hertford and two grand children. SAWYIR James Richard "Jimmy" Sawyer, Jr., 33, of Route 1, died suddenly Monday moraine in Albemarle Hospital. A native of Perquimans County, he was the husband of Mrs. Rachael Mac Key Sawyer and the son of Mrs. Mable Bass Sawyer of Hertford and the late James Richard Sawyer, Sr. He was a farmer and a member of Hertford United Methodist Church. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. John (Connie) Stilling* and Mrs. Jackie Delaney, both of Greenville and Ma. Jean Garrett of Route 1, Hertford; a eon, Jamee Richard (Ricky) Sawyer, III of Route 1.
