Community ? Williams-Swindell exchange marriage vows 4 . Mlu Nancy Elisabeth Swindell and . Mrs. David Russell Williams were united in marriage Saturday, Sep tember 3, at 2 p.m. in the Hertford United Methodist Church. Officiating - were the Rev. Irving Cook, pastor, . and the Rev. Richard Blankenhorn, .pastor of the Edenton United Methodist Church. Parents of the couples are Mrs. Betty Swindell of Edenton and Mr. .and Mrs. Marion Swindell of Hert ford and Mrs. Lois Williams and Dr. and Mrs. Robert M. Willimas of Vero Beach, Florida. The bride's grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Thigpen of Windsor and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur S. Swindell of Elizabeth City. The groom's grandparents are Mrs. Gladys Williams and the late Joseph R. Williams of Vero Beach, Florida and Mrs. Grace Hon and the late H. L. Hon of Evansville, Indiana. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. William McDuffie, organist, of Macon, Georgia and Robert Mc Duffie, violinist, of New York City, aunt and cousin of the bride. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal length gown of white organza over peau de aoie, designed with a high neckline and a sheer yoke of illusion edged with re-embroidered Alencon lace and beaded with pearls. The fitted bodice was enhanced with Alencon lace and featured a peplum ovelaid in the same lace, and sheer Bishop sleeves ending in lace cuffs. The chapel length train was attached to a modified A-line skirt, both of which were edged in Alencon lace. Her waltz length mantilla of illusion was edged in re-embroidered Alencon lace and pencil edging. She carried a bouquet of yellow silk roses and daisies. Mrs. Ronnie Barnard of Chesapeake, was her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Larry Swindell of Hertford, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Mary Wood Hurdle of Wilmington, Mrs. Barry Baucum of Raleigh, Mrs. Garry Harker of Naples, Florida and Miss Tina MRS. The gown* were styled with a high neckline, short sleeves and ? bodice of diagonal tiered chiffon ruffles. They carried a single stem yellow rose. Lt. Michael William*. USAF, of Sumter, S.C., served as best man for his brother. ' Groomsmen were Larry Swindell of Hertford, brother of the bride, Ronald Wilkinson of New Orleans, La., John Walker and Walter Nason of Orlando, Florida and Michael Garfield of Memphis, Tn. Junior groomsman was Robert Barnard of Chesapeake, nephew of the bride. Kimberly Barnard of Chesapeake, neice of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a floor length dress of white organza and lace and carried a basket of mixed flowers. She wore a wreath of baby's breath in her hair. Mark Swindell of Hertford, nephew of the bride was ring bearer. The mother of the bride chose ? floor length gown of dusty roee crepe chiffon featuring a cowled neckline, draped hack with long straight sleeves. Her cymbldlum orchid corsage was pinned to her parte. The groom's mother wore a floor length gown of Emerald green silk chiffon with crepe-like sleeve detail and modified peplum at the waist She wore matching accessories and a cymbidium orchid corsage. Directing the wedding were Mrs. D. F. Reed Jr. and Mrs. Elton Hurdle of Hertford. A reception was held in the social hall of the church. Following a wedding trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the couple will live in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. COURTISIES: Following the rehearsal, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Williams of Vero Beach, Fla, entertained the wedding party and guests st s dinner held at Pitt-Cochran united Miss Mary Howard Pitt and Lieutenant James Gabriel Cochran, U.S.A.F, were married at noon, Saturday, August 27 at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Charlotte. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Howard Pitt Jr. of Charlotte and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Howard Pitt of Hertford. She graduated from Saint Marys College in Raleigh and attended the College of Charleston. The groom is the son of Mrs. Doretah Barber Cochrane of Charlotte and Major General Jerry Wilson Barber of Lincoln ton. He is a graduate of The Citadel and is presently stationed at F. E. Warren Air Force Base, Cheyenne, Wyoming. After a wedding trip to Charleston, the couple will make their home in Cheyenne. U.S. Fleet Band to perform during summer festival Combining the "New Sounds" of today with the contemporary sounds of "Yesterday", the Atlantic Fleet Band's most versatile combo the "Four Star Edition" has been thrilling people of all ages since their establishment. Formed especially to support the official receptions of the Commander in Chief U.S. Atlantic Fleet, they also perform at local receptions in honor of Changes of Command, official parties, and Dinings-In. They also perform in local schools in support of Navy Recruiting as well as in public concerts in the area. The "Four Star Edition's" repetorie includes: Top 40's, Rock, Country, Soul, Latins, Jasz, and Standards. Although this group has been together a relatively short period of time, they have molded themselves into one of the finest musical ensembles in the U.S. Navy today. So, if you are interested in a musical ensemble of high quality, then "Four Star Edition" is the group for you. The "Four Star Edition" will be performing on the 17th of September during the Indian Summer Festival in Hertford. The Town of Hertford it requesting proposals from qualified consulting firms to provide administrative assist ance in connection with a NRCD-funded community revitali zation project. Project activities include: ? Acquistion of substandard property (11 residential and 3 commercial) ? Relocation of 1 8 affected households ? Clearance and disposition of acquired property ? Rehabilitation of 23 housing units The Town of Hertford wHI consider entering into a con tract with a consultant, whose proposal is determined to be the most advantageous to the Town, cost and other factors considered. Cost will be based on a fee schedule with a guaranteed maximum amount. Other factors to be con sidered are consultant's approoch and understanding of the project, woHc management plan, and experience of pro* posed personnel.
