By JOB LOTHIAN It looks a* though fall hai finally arrived and now it really feels like it's time to hunt. October 17 will be opening day for the deer hunters and things look pretty good. We should have a good season. The only real problem I see is that there are more deer hunters than ever before and fewer places to hunt. Moat of the big hunting areas are leased by clubs and there's not much private land open to other hunters. This could cause some problems and hard feelings. We also have more non-resident hunters than we've ever had hunting in the area. We'll just have to see what happens. October 6-8 will be the first part of our duck season. Yes, this is the same as it's been being and there are no changes to be seen in the future. People briefs Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Dillon attended the seventh Naval Inshore Patrol reunion over the weekend. The reunion was held at the Ocean Mecca Motel in Ocean City, Maryland. Hospital Notes J. W. Dillon was admitted to Leigh Memorial Hospital on Tuesday. The only change may be an open season on swan next year, but there is a price to be paid for this. Ducks Unlimited^ I wouldn't be surprised to see the price of the federal duck stamp go up to $10.00. Again, we'll just have to wait because even though the feds would like us to believe differently, r it's out of our hands. One thing that we can still take* part in and have a voice in decisioq ! making process is Ducks Unlimited. The Perquimans County Chapter at ? Ducks Unlimted will be having its < annual banquet and auction on November 3 at Anglers Cove Restaurant. Tickets will again be $25.00 and there is nothing you can do for that price that even comes close. This year, there will be a limited number of tickets available due to the immense popularity of the affair. So, try to get yours early because once they're gone there ain't no more. Tickets can be purchased from any of the committee members. Plumbing, Heating, A.C. Electrical Contracting Waterheaters, Sales-Service, Sharpening Service LLOYD R.
