COMMUNITY BULLETIN White named volunteer of month Earline C. White of Hertford has been named the Volunteer of the Month by the Area Agency on Aging for her help with the home delivered meals program for the homebound elderly in Hertford. White began her volunteer work with the program in September. "The best that I can do is carry nourishment and pleasure to those who are less fortunate that cannot get oilt," White said. "I have a feel ing of accomplishment in helping those in need." The Area Agency on Aging is con tinually seeking new volunteers to help twice a month. Interested per sons should call the volunteer co ordinator, Dianne White at 426-7556 or 426-8552. I 1 ECSU to host two area business seminars Two separate seminars for business persons, future business persons and those interested in business will be held at Elizabeth Ci ty State University. On February 21, "Need for Economic Understanding" will be the topic as Dr. John H. Carson, Chairman and Professor of Walter R. Davis Department of Business and Econcomics and Dr. Hameed Naz, Professor of Economics, Department of Business at ECSU speak. Naz is also the Director for the Nor theastern North Carolina Center for Economic Education. The seminar will be held in the Graduate & Continuing Education Heart Answers Center, Room 116, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. February 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the second seminar, "Keys to a Business Success," will be held. This seminar will be held at Graduate & Continuing Education Center, Room 130. Registration fee for the seminars is $2.00. The seminars will cover such areas as management, organizaiton, sources of capital, business records, insurance and several other areas vital to a successful business. Consultants include represen tatives from higher education, bank ing, insurance firms, accounting firms and the legal professions. WHAT ARE HEART MURMURS? A native of Perquimans County, he was the husband of Mrs. Alice Lamb Ferrell and the son of the late Oc tavious and Annie Davis Ferrell. He was a retired Rigger with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Va. Besides his wife he is survived by three daughtes, Mrs. Edward (Esther) Morrow of Morni, Utah, Mrs. James (Ann) Morris of Rt. 2, Elizabeth City, and Mrs. Caleb (Louretta) Hassell of Mechanicsville, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ballance of Elizabeth City, Mrs. Annie Jeffries of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Beulah Spindler of San ford, Fla. ; a brother, Harvey Ferrell of Elizabeth City; eight grand children and a great-grandchild. Hassell, Gilmer Ferrell, William Ferrell and Roy Lamb. i MOFFETT William Graves Moffett Sr., 66, died Friday morning in DePaul Hospital in Norfolk, Va. A native of Rock Hill, S.C., he had lived at Route 3, Box 501, Hertford, for the past eight years. He was a new car carrier for 15 yers, a former new car salesman for Perry Toyota, former owner-manager of Bill's Repair Shop in Hertford, former owner of Bill's Lounge in Chesapeake, Va., and a Virginia Pilot-Ledger Star carrier since 1980 He was a member of Durants Neck Ruritan Club and was treasurer for two years, president and past presi dent of V.F.W. Post 8291 in Chesapeake, member of William Clarence Post 6060 V.F.W. in Elizabeth City, the Chesapeake Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 204, Norfolk, Ziyad 228 Dramatics Knight of Khorassad in Norfolk, Knights of Pythias Lodge 106, Nor folk, and a former student pilot, and a World War II veteran in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of the late William Penn and Mrs. Mary Alice Brown Moffett and the husband of Mrs. Eve Curies Moffett. Surviving besides his wife are one step-daughter, Miss Sevenna Kemp of the home; one son, William Crover Moffett Jr. of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hollins of Port smouth, Va., and Mrs. Anne Starrett of High Point, N.C.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Mon day at 2 p.m. in Twiford's Me morial Chapel by the Revs. Tom Supplee and I.R. Baccus. Burial follwed in New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors. ROGERSON EDENTON ? Henry Solomon Rogerson, 90, of 46 Leigh St., died Sunday in Chowan Hospital. He was a native of Perquimans County and the widower of Annie Holmes Rogerson. He was a retired supervisor for Edenton Cotton Mill and was a member of Edenton Baptist Church and Order of Redmen. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth R. Wright and Catherine Sawyer, both of Edenton; four sons, Richard S. Rogerson of Winston Salem, Rodney L. Rogerson of Raleigh and Ray Rogerson of Atlan ta; two stepdaughters, Wilma Swain of Columbia and Betty Lee Stillman of Virginia; three sisters, Katie Ed wards, Estelle Pate and Alethia Farless, all of Edenton; 15 grand children; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Williford-Barham' Funeral Home by the Revs. Bob Crisp and E.C. Alexander. Burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery. JONES FARMVILLE, N.C - Dot Long Jones, 69, wife of Congressman W.B. Jones, died Monday, February 13, in Pitt Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of Edenton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bob R. Moye of Farmville, and a son, N.C. State Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., also of Farmville; a brother, Joseph Jud son Long Jr. of Smithfield; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Farmville.
