COMMUNITY Bummer salads make great meals 'Janet fixed this absolutly cfelicious summer salad for our July 4 picnic and it has haunted lie ever since. I have indeed Iffepared it, making a few changes (as uaual) so I will pass ve also included a marinade for iced tomatoes. Add hot crusty bread and cool glasses of mint tea. PASTA SALAD 1 8 oz. bottle oil and vinegar salad dressing 1 bunch fresh brocolli florets blanched and cooled 1 can ripe olives, sliced 1 cup cherry tomatoes, sliced in half 1 can button mushrooms, or use fresh 8 oz. fetucini noodles cooked, drained, and cooled 1 cup grated Parmesan Cheese 10 slices of bacon fried crisp and broken into bits Pour dressing over brocoli, olives, tomatoes, and mushrooms. I also sprinkle this with seasoning salt and pepper. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for eight hours. Drain, reserving the marinade. Combine vegetable mixture noodles, cheese, and bacon and toss lightly. Place in individual lettuce cups. Sprinkle with additional cheese and bacon bits if desired. MARINATED TOMATO SLICES Vi cup oil V* cup vinegar 1 1. salt V-i t. dried oregano Vi t. dried thyme V* t. pepper 6 large tomatoes sliced Combine the first six ingfredients in a jar. Jeffrey McCoy Harueson were married in a candlelight evening ceremony on June 30 in Hertford United- Methodist Church. Captain James E. Doffin, Jr., Chaplain. U.S.N, officiated at the ceremony that he wrote especially for the couple. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. "Pete" Hunter of Hertford. The bridegroom is the son of CW04 and Mrs. Everette McCoy Harbeson of Elizabeth City. Wedding music was presented by Mrs. G. L. Sundstorm, pianist; and Miss Caroline Wright, organist. Mrs. Jimmy Hunter, aunt of the bride, was soloist. Escorted to the altor by her father, the bride was given in marriage by her parents. She wore a dress of white bridal taffeta and French re embroidered Alencon lace. The bodice was hand-appliqued with French Alencon lace and seed pearls and was fashioned with a soft v-neckline and long Alencon sleeves. The hemline of the full skirt and sweep train was also appliqued with re-embroidered Alencon lace and seed pearls. Her veil of illusion was arranged from a sheer hat highlighted with re-embroidered French lace and seed pearls. Miss Rene Hunter was maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Floyd Griswould of Edenton, Mrs. Elton Layden, Miss Llewellyn Towe and Miss Donna Elliott of Hertford, Mrs. Matthew Elliott and Miss Jenny Harbeson, sisters of the bridegroom of Elizabeth City. The attendants wore floor length gowns of pink taffeta. The neckline featured a ruffle extending into off-the-shoulder rosettes. Each attendant carried a long-stemmed red rose. The maid of honor wore a wreath of baby's breath in her hair. The father of the bridegroom was best man. Ushers were Lts. Phillip Tilley, Ricardo Cruz, Irvin Vann, Reese Bradley, Ronnie Long and Robert Kricko. The ushers formed a sword arch through which the wedding party passed during the recessional. Flowergirls were Holly Winslow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Winslow, and Kristie Roberson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Roberson. They wore long gowns of pink taffeta with ruffled necklines and hemlines. They wore wreaths of baby's breath accented with pink taffeta roses. Mrs. James P. Harreil, aunt of the bride, was mistress of the ceremony. Miss Dana Winslow of Edenton was guest register. A candlelight reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Preston Morgan served the cake and Mrs. Waldo Winslow poured the punch. They were assisted by Mrs. Ronald Boyce, Mrs. Wilbur Roberson, Mrs. Clarence Rogers, Mrs. C. J. Stallings, Mrs. Frank Brown and Mrs. Annice Peckham. Following a wedding trip to New York City, Lt. and Mrs. Harberson are making their home in Elizabeth City. COURTESIES Following the rehearsal the grooms' parents entertained the wedding party and out-of-town guests at a dinner in the church fellowship hall. On June 30, Mrs. M. M. Spivey, Sr., Mrs. H. W. Bright and Mrs. James P. Harreil entertained at a bridal luncheon at the Carolina Room in Edenton. The brides' attendants gave a bachelorette party for the bride at the home of Mrs. Floyd Griswould. On June 5 the bride was honored at a floating miscellaneous shower at the Hertford Methodist United Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Jimmy Hunter, Mrs. Marvin Hunter. Mrs. Edgar Roberson, . Mrs. Wilbur Roberson, Mrs. Tony Winslow and Mrs. Bryant Woodell. I Mrs. Elton Layden and Mrs. Floyd Griswould gave a kitchen shower on May 22 at the home of Mrs. Layden.
