UNITY IN THE NEW LIFE
(Johnl7:l-ll;S9-21)
"Holy Father, keep through
thine own name those thou hast
given me, that they may be
one. as we are." (John 17: 11)
In this lesson we are going to
take a look at a part of Jesus'
prayer on the night of His
betrayal and arrest. Every
Christian should read and study
this whole prayer because there
is so much in it for believers.
Not this prayer only, but all
He said and did on that night. Our
study for today is about Christian
unity; unity between sisters and
brothers in Christ's family, the
church.
Mr. Knofel Staton, writing for
the Standard Publishing Co..
and addressing this topic, asked
some pertinent questions, and I
quote, "The world is watching
us, and the big question is this:
'What difference does the world
see as it watches us?' Does the
world see Christians fuss and
fight as the ungodly do?
"Does the world see us
separating from other Christians
as people in the world separate
from each other? Does the world
see Christians refuse to support
other Christians unless there is
total conformity to all things?
Does the world see as much
"politics" in the church as in the
world?"
To Mr. Staton's statement I
would like to add a summary
question, "Does the world see
Christians practicing what they
profess?" For Bible students,
and others who seriously read
the Scriptures, the effect is that
it calls one into self-examination
and it should.
It leads believers to question
their daily acts, their
motivations, their priorities,
etc., in light of the principal -
teaching of Christ's gospel.
In these passages of Scripture
we get a picture of a solemn
occasion. The Son of God lifting
His eyes toward heaven in
prayer to God the Father on
behalf of Himself, His apostles
and those who would become
Christians in the future.

A Word
From
Mt. Sinai
Remember when the little
children would, or maybe still do, .
come home from kindergarten or
first grade with those beautiful
crayon landscapes, things made
with popsicle sticks and
styrofoam cups? The motivation
was simply to please mom and
dad. Some of them were hardly
recognizable but we blessed
them and loved them because of
the desire of their heart to
please.

As a child of God I look back on
some of my work. It doesn't look
like much, but at the time it was
all I was called upon to do and
hopefully I did my beat. God
loved me and blessed me.

A PETITION ON
BEHALF OF JESUS
(John 17:1-5)
Someone has said that one of
the unique characteristics of the
relationship between Jesus and
God, the Father, was the easy
manner in which Jesus talked
with Him.
With the help of many fine performers, too
numerous to mention, the Belvidere 4-H Club was
proud to sponsor a "Singspiration Benefit" on
Sunday, March 10, and present all proceeds in
the amount of $663.56 to the Belvidere-Chappell
Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
The unity of Christian love as our area churches
united in brotherhood added a special blessing
to our efforts to make this great even a huge suc
cess.
We, the members and leaders of the Belvidere
4-H Club now extend our appreciation to all in
dividuals and groups who volunteered their time
and talents, to the churches in and around the
Belvidere community for their tremendous re
sponse and cooperation, and to our host church,
Piney Woods Friends and Pastor Ken Spivey. We
sincerely thank each of you, and pray that God
will add a most special blessing to enrich your
life daily.
The Belvidere 4-H Club
I would like to take this opportunity to say
"thanks" to each of you who remembered me
with your prayers, for the beautiful flowers and
cards you sent, for your visits and phone calls,
and every act of kindness shown me and my
family during my recent surgery at Leigh
Memorial Hospital and during my recuperation
at home. May God bless each of you as He has
blessed me.
George G. Winslow
I would like to express my sincere thanks and
appreciation to each one who remembered me
during my illness, white in the hospital and my

Your prayers, cards, flowers, gifts and visits mean
so much to me.
