Local Briefs Foundation to meet The Northeastern North Caro lina Chapter of the Juvenile Dia betes Foundation will meet Mon day, Sept. 16, 7:30 p.m., at the First Christian Church on Par sonage St. in Elizabeth City. The meeting is open to the pub lic. The topic will be "J.D.F. AND DIABETES PAST, PRE SENT, FUTURE". Movies and a slide presentation will be shown. The Juvenile Diabetes Founda tion is a non-progit international organization for all diabetics (not just children) regardlless of age, as well as others with an in terest in diabetes. Our goal is to find a cure for diabetes through research funded by donations and fund raising activities world wide by more than 138 chapters. Photographs wanted by museum WANTED!! PHOTOGRAPHS OF WORLD WAR I AND II VET ERANS IN UNIFORMS. In conjunction with the exhibi tion opening on September 28 en titled "A World at War: Poster and Uniforms of World War I and II" the Museum of the Albemarle would like to solicit photographs of veterans of both World Wars for display. In an attempt to honor these brave men and women who fought for our coun try, the Museum will mount and display the photos which will serve as the opening panel for this exhibition. The surviving veterans will be honored at the opening reception. These photos should be brought to the Museum of the Albemarle no later than September 15, 1985. M-., Area obituaries K1GHT MOYOCK.N.C ? Titus Wesley Knight, 76, OF Route 1, a native of Currituck, N.C., died Tuesday, September S, 1985 in his home. Mr. Kight had retired from Ferrell Brothers as a bulldozer operator. Survivors include his wife, Beulah Duncan Kight; a daugh ter, Erlean K. Wilson K. Wilson of Hertford, N.C.; a brother, James Kight of Moyock; and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September S, 1985 in Twiford Memorial Cha pel, Elizabeth City, N.C., by the Rev. Kendall Hastings. Burial was in Memory Gardens. LANE HERTFORD, N.C.? Pailen Els berry Lane, 86, a native of Perquimins County, N.C., died Tuesday, September 10, 1985, in an Edenton, N.C. hospital. Mr. Lane was a retired farmer and a member of Great Hope Baptist Church. Survisors include his wife, Lil lian Ward Lane; a daughter, Kathryn L. Bryum of Edenton; a son, Ray Lane of Hickory, N.C.; a sister, Zilliah Bagley o t Hert ford; a brother, Roy Lane of Tyner, N.C.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 1906, in Great Hope Baptist Church by the Reverend Robert Kelley Burial was in Cedarwood Cemetery in Hertford. The poll bearers were Joe Car roll Byrum, Barry Bryum, Mi chael lane, Steve Lane, Van Ward, and Bradley Ward. Memorial donations may be made to Great Hope Baptist Church. Williford-Barham Fune ral Home, Eden ton, was in charge. MONDS HERTFORD-Riley Sidney Monds, Jr., 75, of 310 N. Front Street, Hertford, died Wednes day afternoon, September 4, 1985, in Chowan Hospital. A native of Mappsville, Va. he was the son of the late Riley S. and Martha Maude Price Monds and the husband of Mrs. Frances Fowler Monds. He was the re tired owner of Hertford Live stock Company. Besides his wife, suvivors in clude two sons, Price Moods of Roanoke Rapids and Perry Monds of New Bern , and a sister, Mrs. Maude Tucker of Hertford The body was cremated. Cowasn, 67, of 4527 Sleaford Road, Annanndale, Va., died Sunday afternoon Septem- - ber 8, 1985 in Fairfax (Va.) Hoe- ( pital. A native of Ahoskie be was the husband of Mrs. Mattie White Cowan, a former resident of Hertford. He was the retired manager of the House of Rep resentatives Restaurant in Washington, D.C. and was an Army veteran of World War II. Besides his wife survivors in- I elude a daughter, Mrs. Deborah Corwin of Fairfax, Va., two sis ters, Mrs. Faye Custance of Port Orange, Fla., and Mrs.Foy Bur den of Ahoskie; a brother, John Cowan of Murfreesboro and 2 grandchildren.
