Community Downeast deerama scheduled The avid dear hunter or even a cas ual sportsman will enjoy the activ ities of Saturday, August 16, 1966, on the banks of the Roanoke River in Williams ton, N.C. The Williams ton Jaycees will be sponsoring the Third Annual Down East Deersms with the Rig Ruck Contest to be held that eve ning Beginning at 9:00 a.m., there will be taxidermy displays, guns, hunting and dog supplies, hunting demonstra tions, air rifle range, safety films, food and concluding with the Big Ruck Contest at 7:00 p.m. that eve ning. Prior to the presentation of awards there will be a very interest ing explanation on Boone and Crock ett scoring of deer mounts. The deer mounts to be entered in the competi tion must be brought to the contest site, Mora toe Park on the Roanoke River, East Main Street in Williams ton on Friday, August 15th from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. or on Saturday, August 16th from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. All amounts must be able to be hung on the display walls. There will be a $5.00 entry fee per en try. Boone and Crockett scoring will be used except on Bow and Arrow kills where Pope and Young scoring will prevail. Scaring will be done by certified Boone and Crockett scorers and done in accordance with Boone and Crockett regulations. Territory eligible for this contest includes deer killed in N.C. counties that are di vided by Interstate 96.
