Sr., 77, of Route 4, Box 929, died Jan. 6, 1967 at 11 p.m. in bis home The funeral was conducted Thurs day, Jan. 8th, at 2 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel by the Rev. W.A. Renfrow. Burial was in the Cedar wood Cemetery. Twiford's Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrange ments. Mr. Bateman was a native of East Lake. He was a retired farmer and a member of Woodville Baptist Church. Bateman was the son of the late Hezikah and Mrs. Missouri Harris Bateman. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sybil Mansfield Bateman of the home, two daughters, Mrs. Missouri Garner of Lake Gaston and Mrs. Sybil Cale of Carrsville, Va.; two sons. Kenneth Wilson Bateman, Jr. and Elbert Earl Bateman both of Hertford; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Cor bett of Florida; two brothers, Carl Bateman of Norfolk, Va., and Ronald Bateman of Hertford; and five grandchildren. ROBERT L. BOYCE BELLEVILLE, ILL? Robert Lee Boyce, 60, an electrical engineer, died Jan. 5, 1987, in a hospital. Mr. Boyce, a native of Chowan County, N.C., worked at Scott Air Force Base. Survivors include his wife, Bar bara Flora Boyce, two daughters, Gail Stymerski of Tuttle, Okla., and Ellen Barvanowski of Cedar Hill, Texas; a son Alfred Boyce of Belle ville; five sisters, Roxie Daniels of Colerain, N.C., Marie Matthews of WinfalL N.C., Gertrude Copeland of Suffolk, Va., Edna Byrum of Tyner, N.C. and Naomi Bunch of Edenton, N.C. ; and five grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Williford-Bar ham Funeral Home, Edenton, by the Rev. Donald Wagner. Burial was in Byrum Family Cemetery, Tyner. JAMES P. OSBORN MAPLE? James Paul Osborn, 63, of P.O. Box 311, Maple, died Tuesday afternoon, January 6, 1987, in Norfolk General Hospital. A native of Chicago, 111. he was the husband of the late Norma Ballance Osborn. He was a retired self-em ployed printer and die-cutter and also worked as an electrical contrac tor. He was a Lutheran, a member of Currituck Wildlife Guild and the American Legion and served in the Coast Guard from 1942 until 1945. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert Earl (Chris) Lane of Route 2, Hertford; two sons, Norman B. Os born of Wilmington and James Paul Osborn, II of Scottsdale, Ariz. ; a sis ter, Mrs. Marjorie Kinderman of Chi cago, 11,1. ; and 6 grandchildren. Graveside services were held Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in New Holly wood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. Joseph Matoush, Chaplain of the Coast Guard Air Base officiat ing. Full military honors were accorded by the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Air Station. Swindell Funeral Home, Hertford, was in charge of ar rangements. THELMA Q. DIVERS RALEIGH? Mrs. Thelma Quidley Divers, 46, of 3100 Beane Drive, Ra leigh, died Monday afternoon, Jan uary 12, 1987, in Duke Medical Cen ter. A native of Swan Quarter she was a former resident of Elizabeth City and Hertford. She was the daughter of Mrs. Allie Pugh Quidley of Elizabeth City and the late Harry Quidley. She was a member of the Hill Crest Bap tist Church in Raleigh. Survivors include her mother, her husband, William "Sandy" Divers; a daughter, Miss Tanya Divers of Ra leigh; a son, Gary William Divers of Chapel Hill; and six sisters, Mrs. He len Godfrey of Rt. 3, Hertford, Mrs. Elma Markham, Mrs. Dale Messina and Mrs. Edith Fay Kelsick, all of Elizabeth City, Mrs. Aldean Insley of New Bern and Mrs. Doris Brink of Chesapeake, Va. Funeral services will be held today (Thrusday) at 1:30 p.m. in the Swin dell Funeral Chapel, Hertford, with the Rev. Steve Bolton, pastor of Hill Crest Baptist Church, and the Rev.
