N.C., Pauline Madre of Hertford, N.C., and Grace Webb of Edenton; a >, brother, Robert Bunch, Sr. of Eden ton; and six grandchildren. The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Williford-Barham Funeral Home by the Rev. Kenneth Word. Burial was held in Beaver Hill Cemetery. BENJAMIN H. CHAPPELL Benjamin Haywood Chappell, 72, of Rt. 3, Hertford, died Monday, April 27, 1987, in Norfolk, Va. hospital. A native of Perquimans County he was the son of the late Mrs. Martha Ella Lamb Chappell. He was a retired equipment operator for N.C. Dept. of Transportation and a former em ployee of Marshall Brothers Dairy Farms and a member of Victory Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Virginia Hurdle Chappell, his father, William A. South Pacific to be held South Pacific is a musical comedy to be presented May 14, 15 in the John A. Holmes High School Auditorium. The Rodgers and Hammers teins play is about a love affair that develops between Naval (Nellie Forebush) and military force (Emile De Bec que), on a Japanese Island. SAWYER Mrs. Myra Vann Sawyer, 84, of Rt. 3, Hertford, died Sat., April 25, 1987, at Albemarle Hospital. A native of Somerton, Va. she was a retired clerk at House of Hurdles of Eliza beth City. She attended New Hope United Methodist Church and was the wife of the late Jesse A. Sawyer. Survivors include a step-daughter, Mrs. Nita Brown of Little Rock, Ar kansas; 3 stepsons, Gene Sawyer also of Little Rock; Ralph Sawyer of Belhaven, NC; Marshall Sawyer, Newport News, Va.; 1 sister, Mrs. Doris Lowry of Harrisonburg, Va. Gravesides services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Mullen Fam ily Cemetery in New Hope by the Rev. Lawrence Higgins. Twifford's Memorial Chappell was in charge of arrangements. The First Congres sional District Republican Party, meeting in convention at the Outer Banks Coliseum Saturday re-elected District Chairman Steven P. Racier to a second 2-year term. Rader, 34, is a Washington, N.C. at torney and past chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party. He defeated Dan Lawrence of Frisco, Treasurer of the Dare County Repub lican Party, by vote of 412 to 16. Law rence then asked that his name be withdrawn and the election of Rader be declared unanimous. The 1st district is composed of 21 counties in northeastern North Caro lina. Elected as district vice chairman was Shirley E. Perry of Route 2, Hertford, N.C. Mrs. Perry is past president of the Perquimans County Chamber of Commerce and was the Republican nominee for the N.C. House of Representatives in the 1st State House District in 1986. Other officers elected were Sue Sutton of Kins ton as Treasurer, and Nita Rasberry of Greenville as Sec retary. Elected to the district executive committee were Luther Daniels, Mayor of the town of Manteo; Lind say Dail of Kinston; Dr. Robert Pow ell and Pete Lacy of Elizabeth City; Jerry Hardesty of Beaufort; Jocille Eddleman and the Rev. Walter Leake of New Bern; Garvin Hardison of Minesott Beach; John R. Moore pf Ahoskie; Rebecca Clayton of Rt. f, Belhaven ; Michael Karachun and Dr. Martin Kilcoyne of Greenville; Timothy Hodges of Swan Quarter; Ron Bonham of Manteo, and Carl Pickell of Powell's Point.
