A native of Chowan bounty he was a lifetime resident of Perquimans County. He was the son of Mrs. Wi nifred Swain Hudson of Hertford and the late Arvin Washington Hudson was a member of the Berea Church of Christ and attended the Hertford United Methodist Church, was a member of the Winfall Volunteer Fire department and a former mem ber of the Perquimans County Jay cees. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sandra Smith Judson, two daugh ters, Miss Wendy Hudson and Miss Jamie Hudson, both of the home; his ;mother, a sister, Mrs. William Pres ?ton (Saundra) Nixon of Wilmington; and a brother, W.A. "Billy" Hudson of Lawrenceville, Va. Funeral services were held Mon day at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Cedarwood Cemetery with the Rev. Daniel LeRoy and the Rev. Henry .Bizzell officiating. He was a retired aircraft mechanic from the Norfolk Naval Air Station and a member of Warwick Baptist Church. Hugo was the son of the late George Francis and Katie Meheger Hugo and the husband of the late Hattie Lane Hugo. Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Nancy Gregson and Mrs. Brenda Spivey both of Elizabeth City, Mrs. Venovah Guthrie of Or lando, Fla.; Mrs. Edla Harrell of Hobbsville and Mrs. Betty Dabbs of Austin, Texas; a son, Clifton Hugo of Las Vegas, Nev.; nine grandchil dren; and two great-grandchildren. For merly, he had been a dean of Wingate College, and had been a dean of Wingate College, and had also served as dean of student personnel at Sand ills Community College in Pinehurst and as its interim president. Chappell was a Mason for more than 60 years during which time he served as master of the lodge. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wilson where he served as chairman of the board of deacons and teacher of the men's adult class. Survivors include a son, Jerry Chappell of Warner Robins, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Essie Twine of Virginia Beach; a brother, Fernado Chappell of Elizabeth City ; and three grand children.
