A native of Perquimans County he was retired as a supervisor from VFW news The monthly meeting of Hertford VFW Post 8148 was held at Jimmy's Barbecue Place, Wednesday eve ning, June 10th. 1987. Commander D.J White conducted the meetig and later transferred the future business of the Post to the new commander. Eddie Barber, wishing him a very successful year. Charlie Skinner, John Decker, and Bubba Landing, placed approxi mately 120 flags on veterans' graves in the Hertford Cemetery for Memo rial Week. Flags were also placed on veterans' graves in various country cemeteries by other members. The Buddy Poppy sale sponsored by the Hertford VFW Post was a suc cess, however, more members are needed to help with this program next year. Fenton Hurdle's name was drawn for the attendance award, however, he was not present to receivie the award. The award will be $15.00 for some lucky member next month. The new commander, Eddie Bar ger. announced that the Hertford VFW Post 8148 will host the District meeting next month, and he will need lots of help from the members to make this meeting a success. Crubb Street, Hertford, died Sunday evening, June 28, 1987 in Unit B of Chowan Hospital. A native of Perquimans County she was the daughter of Daniel and Elie Winslow Rogerson and the widow of James Edward Boyce. She was a charter member of the Hertford Pen tecostal Church and a member of its Laides Auxiliary in which she served as a District-Board Member. Survivors include three sons, H. Edward Boyce of Hanover, Md., Ju lian F. Boyceof Immokolee, Fla and H. Gene Boyce of Hertford; three sis ters. Mrs. Maude R. Lane and Mrs. Elie R. Forehand, both of Hertford and Mrs Stella R.
