ANNE 8. JENKINS
EDENTON - Anne Speight Jenkins,
83, at lot Eden St., died Aug. 15 in a
hospital
A graveside service will be con
ducted Tuesday in Beaver Hill Ceme
tery by the Rev. John Gibson. Willi
ford-Barham Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Cho
wan County and was the retired
owner of Anne's Beauty Salon. She
was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal
Church and a member of the Ameri
can,' Legion Auxiliary Poet 40. Jen
kins was a charter member of the
Edqnton Business and Professional
Women's organization.
She was inducted into the North
Carolinian Cosmotology Hall of
Faipe in 1961. Jenkins helped orga
nize the North Carolina State Board
of (/osmetics Art Examination Board
in 1&33 and was appointed to serve on
that board by two governors in 1951
and 1966.
She was the widow of Henry C. Jen
kins.
Survivors include a son, Will S.
Bond of Wake Village, Texas; two
sisters, Alula S. Colvin of Temperan
cesville, Va., and Margaret S. White
of Edenton; and a brother, W.E.
Speight of Hertford.
KINES D. COPELAND
TYNER? Kines Dail Copeland, 79,
Route 1, Tyner, died Aug. 14, 1967, at
Chowan Hospital.
The funeral was conducted at
Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness
Church at 3 p.m. Sunday by the Revs.
Henry Pillow and Eula Harrell.
Bur)al was in the church cemetery.

ZANNIE L. WILLIAMS

liadns, 80, of Route 2, died Aug. 17,
1967 in a Danville, Va., hospital.
Mrs. Williams, a native of Rocking
ham County was the widow of Percy
L. Williams. She was a member of
Yeopim Baptist Church.
Survivors include, four daughters,
Esther Brabble, Alice Martin and
Edna Trapp, all of Edenton, and
Anna Hare of Tyner; three sons, Guy
Williams and K.W. Williams, both of
Edenton
and Lloyd "Mike" Williams of Fayet
teville; four sisters, Nellie Lucas of
Danville, Clemmie Lemons of Eden,
Naomi Nelson of Pinetops, and Ethel
Inman of Morehead City,; two broth
ers, Norman Lucas of Greensboro
and Richard Lucas of Pinetops; 16
grandchildren; and 18 great-grand
children.
The funeral was conducted 2 p.m.
Wednesday in Williford-Barham Fu
neral Chapel by the Rev. Stanley
Nixon. Burial was in Beaver Hill
Cemetery.

Mrs. Eula Marie Billups Hill, 80,
died Thursday, August 13, 1967 at
4:00 p.m. at Kings County Hospital,
Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a native at

fall. She was a member of the Ellis
Temple Missionary Baptist Church,
Winfall, its Senior Choir and its Dea
coness Board.
She was the daughter of the late
George Billups and Mrs. Mollie Bil

bia, N.C. He was a member of Bethel
Baptist Church.

SUNBURY - Grace Winslow Craft,
78, of Route 1, died August 16, 1987, in
a New Bern hospital.
Mrs. Craft, a native of Perquimans
County, N.C. was a member of Har
rell's Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband,
William Ralph Craft Sr.; a son, Wil
liam R. Craft Jr. of Chesapeake;
three sisters, Lillie Bray of Elizabeth
City, N.C. , Myrtle Strickland of
Spring Hope, N.C., and Neva Barrow

TIMOTHY M. STANTON
HERTFORD-Timothy Mark
Stanton, 16, of Route 2, Box 359, Hert
ford died Friday evening, August 14,
1967, from injuries sustained in an
automobile accident near New Hope.
A native of Pasquotank County he
was a life-long resident of Perqui
mans County and was the son Of
Thomas Wade Stanton, Sr. and Sha
ron Jean Chappell Stanton. He was a
rising Junior at Perquimans County
High School where how played on the
Varsity Baseball Team and was a
member of the Future Farmers of
America. He also played baseball
with the American Legion Post 40
team, was a member of Hertford
Baptist Church and its Royal Ambas
sadors.
Besides his parents survivors in
clude two brothers, Thomas Wade
Stanton, Jr. and Christopher Shawn
Stanton, both of the home; his mater
nal grandmother, Mrs. Virginia
Chappell of Route 3, Hertford; his pa
ternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs.
W.J. Stanton of Winfall and his
maternal great-grandfather, W.A.
Chappell of Hertford.
Graveside services were held Sun
day at 2:30 p.m. in Cedarwood Ceme
tery with the Rev. Raymond Need
ham and the Rev. George Wilmore
officiating. Swindel Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.

Dennis G. Smith, son of James G.
and Classie G.Smith of Rural Route
4, Hertford, N.C., has been promoted
in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of
technical sergeant.
Smith is a physical therapy in
structor at Sheppard Air Force Base,
Texas, with the School of Health Care
Sciences.
His wife, Wanda, is the daughter of
Thomas E. Taylor of Rural Route 6,
Elizabeth City, N.C.
The sergeant received an associate
degree in 1985 from the Community
College of the Air Force.
