satin which was heavily embroidered
with alecon lace. The fitted bodice
with a high Victorian neckline was
K tided in pearl illusion. Juliet
eeves accented the dress and were
adorned with alecon lace and schiffli
embroidery with buttoned cuffs. Her
skirt, a full cathedral length train
and U)? hemline, was finished in wide
alecon lace. Her finger tip veil of illu
sion was enchanced with china roses
and sequins.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. 4

daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Barbee
and Mrs. Pensie Corpres, all of Hert
ford. She is also the granddaughter of
the late George Barbee and John Cor
prew, Sr.
The bridegroom is the son of Mrs.
Virl S. Stokely of Portsmouth, Va.
and Mr. & Mrs. Paul Stokely of Hert
ford. He is the grandson of Mrs. Hat
tie Cridlin of Elizabeth City, Mr. Vir

The bride was given in marriage
by her father.
The bride's dress was made of
satin and Venise lace fashioned with
a Queen Anne neckline, fitted bodice,
modified Elizabethan sleeves, bas
que waist, and full skirt with tiers of
chantilly lace ruffles that extended to
a chapel-length train. Her veil of illu
sion was arranged from a halo of silk
flowers and pearls.
The maid of honor was Miss Mel
anie Corprew, sister-of-the bride,
Hertford. The bridesmaids were Ms.
Shaun Stokely, sister of the groom,
Hertford and Miss Abby Corprew,
sister of the bride, Hertford. The
maid of honor and the flower girl
wore aqua tea-length dresses of scal
lop-edged lace over satin with a V
neck in back, accented by a cummer
bund with back bow. The bridemaids
#wore identical pink dresses.

The best man was Ernest Stokely,
brother of the groom, Hertford. The
ushers were Tim Corprew, brother of
the bride, Hertford and Murden Sto
kely, brother of the groom, Hertford.
Miss Nicky Stokely, neice of the
groom, was the flower girl. The Mis
tress of Ceremony was Mrs. Nancy
D. Madre of Hertford.

Historic Edenton
program premiere
A new audio-visual program about
Historic Edenton will premiere at the
Barker House Visitor Center Mon
day, August 24. There will be six
showings throughout the day. The
public is invited to attend, but reser
vations are required. There is no
charge for the showings, however,
because space is limited reservations
will be taken only until available
seating is filled.
"Edenton is a Special Place" is the
title of the all new program which
will be shown daily at the Barker
House to acquaint visitors with the
beauty and history of the town.
"Many people who stop by the Bar
ker House have never visited Eden
ton before," states Linda Eure, Site
Manager. "The new slide program is
designed to acquaint them with the
town's natural and architectural
beauty, its historical significance,
and in so doing, to encourage them to
spend some time here."
The program was written and pro
duced by the Historic Sites Section fo
the North Carolina Department of
Cultural Resources.
Refreshments will be served at the
