Bennie Ervin Winslow.Sr, n, of Route 1, a retired tenner, died October 7, 1887, in an Eden ton, N.C hostel. Mr. Winalow, a native of Cbowan County, N.C., waa the widower of Laura Copetend Winalow. He waa a mem heir at Hunter's Fork Pentecos tal Holiness Church. Survivors include seven daughters, Bubell Byrum of Hertford, N.C., Erma Baggett and Mary Britt, both of Suffolk, Dorothy Euaaell of Driver, Va , Ilicia Edmonriaon of Chesa peake, Axie Ree Belcher of Norfolk and Anne Moore of Hobbaville, N.C.; two aooa, Bennie E. Winalow, Jr. of Norfolk and Leslie Ray Winslow of Tyner, 27 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. The funderal was conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Happy Home Pente costal Holiness Church by the Revs. Henry Pillow, Lee Ingram and Eula Harrell. Burial was in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, handled the arrangements. KATIE V J JONES Hertford-Katie V. Felton Jones, 70, of Route 5, Box 394 died Oct. 6 at 2:20 a.m. in Chowan Hospital, Eden ton. A funeral was conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jeho vah's Witnesses by Brother Kelly Bond. Burial was in Cedarwood Cem etery. Stallings Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Jones was a native of Perqui mans Count" and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Wit nesses. She retired from her own business, Katie's Day Nursery in Elmsford, N.Y., after 20 years. Joom was the daughter of the late Jamee Anderson Fettcn and Mrs. Hattie Williams Felton. Survivors include her husband, Lula Alphonao Jones at the home; two daughters, Mrs. Vivian V. Jones of White Plain, N.Y., and Ms. Elise C. Prebble o I Hertford; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Collins at Kdenton, Mrs. Georgianna Skinner of Hertford, and Mrs. Catherine Brown at Glen Cove, Long Island,N. four brothers, Theodore Felton of Hertford, Daniel Felton of Maryland, Booker T. Felton of Westbury, Long Island, N. Y , and James Felton of California; and six grandchildren. DAVID W. SAWYER Chesapeake, Va.? David Warren Sawyer, 74, of the 900 Mock of May field Ave., Chesapeake, Va., retired owner of D. W. Sawyer Auto Repair, died Tuesday, October 6, 2917, in a Norfolk, Va. hospital. A native of Hertford, be was a member of Chesapeake Avenue United Methodist Church and the Howell Bible Class. Survivors include bis wife, Mrs. Lucy E. Sawyer; two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl S. Wright of Whitefish, Montana and Mrs. Dawn A. Strang of Wilmington, Delaware; two sons, W. Dal ton Sawyer of Lawton, Oklahoma and Jerry H. Sawyer at Chesapeake; three brothers, Mason Sawyer of Route 3, Hertford, J. Reuben Sawyer of Charlottesville, Virginia and R. S. Sawyer of Brooklyn; S grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Gay k Oman Funeral Homes, Francis A. Gay Chapel. Burial followed in Che sapeake Memorial Gardens. Information was provided by Swin dell Funderal Home. BPW celebrates national professional women's week The Hertford Business and Profes sional Women will observe the Week of October 18-24, 1967 as National Business Women's Week, declared today by President Mrs. M. B. Tay lor. The theme for the week is Salute to the Working Women. The Hertford Business and Professional Women's Club proudly salutes all working women during this week. The Busi ness' of Perquimans County and County Connections join in saluting all working women. The Membership Campaign for Hertford Business and Professional Women is on and will continue through the month of October. Hudson, by calling 426-7327 or Mrs. M. B. Taylor, 426-5445 for more information. Baker family reunion held The descendants of Richard R. "Dick" Baker born December 27, 1824 and Mary Ann Gregory Baker born January 6, 1842 held a reunion October 4 at Bethany United Method ist Church, Belvidere, N.C. A picnic lunch was served. Approximately 175 or more descendants attended. The descendants of James C. "Jim" Baker had the most members in at tendance. No survivors of the 15 children are living; however, there are 28 living grandchildren. The oldest living grandchild, Mrs. Walter (Sarah Evie Baker) Dale, Route 1, Belvidere, N. C. 88 years old, daughter of James C. Baker, and the youngest living grandchild, Lester J. Baker, Belvi dere, N.C. 60 years old, son of Charles F. Baker were present. A great granddaughter, Mrs. Linda R. Miller, Champaign, Illinois grand daughter of Edward J. Baker, trav eled the fartherest. Pictures were displayed of Mary Ann Baker, each child, and other de ceased members. Also, a blanket, over 100 years old, Mary Ann Baker had cleaned, dyed and woven from sheep's wool she gathered that was snagged on fences from grazing sheep. A good time was enjoyed by every one. The contest was organized by the Social Director, Ellen Rinehart, and the winners were selected on the basis of oral answers to a series of questions designed to reveal their personality traits. The judges were: Elsie Wilson, Lynn Hil bourne, Mike Meekins, and Ned Hol ler. Miss Holiday Island Personality is Miss Trad Jump, who is a 15 year old Sopiiomore at Perquimans High School.
