Community news Cale-Nadeau wed NADEAU-CALE Miss Cathy A. Cale and Lance C. Nadeau were married June 4 at 2:00 f in First Baptist Church by Ken Spi vey, Pastor of Marboro Friends Meeting. Sophia , NC. The bride is the daughter of Ms. Eunice C. Cale of Tyner, NC and the late William F. Cale. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Nadeau, Jr. of Rota, Spain. The bride was given in marriage by William F. Cale, Jr., Tyner, NC; brother of the bride. | Hie bride wore a wedding gown of satin and silk floss embroidered lace, a fitted bodice encrusted with seed pearls, sequins and silk floss embroi dery with a V neckline and long sheer illusion sleeves. Her veil of illusion was enhanced with pearls and silk flowers. The matron of honor was Mrs. Sybil B. Cale; sister-in-law of the bride. tte bridesmaids were Mrs. Sandra F. Allen of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Miss Marni C. Maxwell of Kitty Hawk, NC. The bestman was David W. Larkin of Norfolk, Va. Ushers were Michael F. Nadeau of Suffolk, Va ; brother of the groom and Angel Tineo of Portsmouth, Va,; brother-in-law of the groom. EVANS-BRACHT Deborah Jean Bracht and Joseph Lloyd Evans, Jr. were married Sat urday, June 18th at 7 p.m. in Forest Hills Baptist Church, Raleigh, NC by Dr. Jerry Hayner. The bride is the daughter of Mr. George R. Bracht of Fairport, NY and Mrs. Karen Hayes of Wilming ton, NC. The groom is the son of Mr. and ' Mrs. Joseph Lloyd Evans, Sr. of Route 1, Hertford, NC. The bride was escorted by her fa ther, and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a full length gown of satin with sposabella lace, pearls and irredescent sequin. It featured a sweetheart neckline bordered in illu sion with beaded lace motifs. Eliza bethan sleeves with satin pubb shoul ders and lace decorated illusion forearms fell from the shoulders to ^ wedding point cuffs. The fitted bas que bodice was handsomely detailed with beaded lace flowers and strands of dangling pearls. From the waist flowed a full satin skirt and cathedral length peacock train. The front of the skirt was adorned with an elongated beaded lace motif with streams and cut outs of sposabella lace enhancing the train. The gown was completed with a full border of scalloped sposa s bella lace. Miss Paige Newland of Wilming ton, NC. was maid of honor. Brides maids were Miss Laura Dwyer of Ra leigh, Miss Crissy Kane of Wilmington, Miss Kim McDuffie of Charlotte, Miss Tammy Rogers, sis ter of the bride, of Athinson, and Miss Lori Sinclair of Raleigh. The groom's father served as best man. The bride is a graduate of NCSU with a degree in Chemical and Tex tile Engineering. She is employed with DuPont of Waynesboro, Va. The groom is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill. He is employed as a Pha ramist at Matha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. On Friday evening, following the rehearsal, a dinner was given by the groom's parents at NCSU Faculty Club. A reception was held at NCSU Fac ulty Club following the services. After a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple will make their home in Charlottesville, Va. On June 9, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. Brian Center Family Night was held. Speakers for the evening included the Area Ombudsman, Becky Baker, and the Perquimans County Nursing Home Advisory Committee. The pre sentation dealt with Becky Baker, hi Ombudsman, stating the role and re sponsibility of the Nursing Home Ad visory Committee and how the need for such a Committee was initiated. Ms. Baker further stated the commit tee members are appointed by the County Commissioners and that the members are trained in the area of Nursing Home care as they relate to the North Carolina Patient Bill of Rights. Rev. Needham, Chairman of the Nursing Home Advisory Commit tee, spoke with the group emphasiz ing the aims of the committee and that of families being one of concern for the "well being of your loved ones" and "a mutual pride of the best". Families were encouraged to discuss their concerns-needs with the Nursing Home Department Heads consisting of: Nancy B. Morgan, So cial Worker, J.M. Crawford, Admin istrator and Deena Towe, Director of Nursing. Currituck High wins coveted Wachovia cup Currituck High School has won the Wachovia Trophy in the Albemarle 1 A Conference. Currituck finished with 64 points, paced by first-place finishes in boys' track and baseball for a total of 38 points during the spring sports sea son. Perquimans was second with 63 to tal points. Camden was third with 62.5 points, followed by Gates County with 61, Murfresboro with 56, Manteo with 54, Northhampton West with 51.5, Weldon with 42.5 and Cape Hat teras with 32.5. The Wachovia Trophy recognizes high school that have the best overall sports programs for boys and girls within their conferences. Points are awaraea oaseu on participation ana excellance and are tallied after the fall, winter and spring sports season. The Wachovia Trophy, sponsored by Wachovia Bank and Trust, is the companion to the Wachovia Cup, which is sanctioned by the North Car olina High School Athletic Associa tion. The Cup honors one school each in 1-A, 2-A, 3-A and 4-A classifications for top overall performance in the state.
