Volun teers. Volunteers are those won derful people who don't have to do what they do. But they choose to give of themselves because of a de sire to share. Because volunteers are so spe cial, a whole week has been desig nated to honor them. National Vol unteer Week is April 9-15, 1989. Volunteers - how we love them! And the residents and staff at Brian Center (Nursing Care) -Hert ford want the volunteers to know how much they are appreciated. During National Volunteer Week, a Volunteer Hour was scheduled at Brian Center on Wednesday, April 12th to say a special thank you. "Volunteers are always wel come," says Pat Rountree, Activ ity Director. "In most instances, we are able to match our needs with a person's skills and interests. No one should assume that there is nothing they can do to help us in the nursing center. We need all varie ties and ages of volunteers. We need people who can be a special friend, prepare tray favors, take photographs, show or take movies, write letters, read books, distrib ute fresh water and ice. The list goes on much longer." Throughout the year a number of volunteers have provided many services for Brian Center. The President of the Resident Council states, "Our volunteers give us so many treasured moments and spe cial love. We have a good staff here, but we know our volunteers come even though they don't have to. They are very special to us and we love them." "Volunteers provide that special one-on-one time which employees don't always have the extra time to give the way they would like," Rus sell R. Beaver, Administrator, commented. "Everyone benefits from having volunteers. But the ones to whom it means the most are our residents." Anyone interested in volunteer ing or who would like further infor mation, should call Pat Rountree at Brian Center at 426-5391. 40% OFF Spring Suits 20% OFF ENTIRE STOCK OF SPRING and SUMMER DRESSES WOODLAND DRESS SHOPPE Woodland Street Hertford, N.C. 426-5620 > LESLIE CARTER POWELL Leslie Carter Powell, 74, of Rt. 3, Box 191, Hertford, N.C. died April 7, 1989 in Albemarle Hospital.
