Mr. Winslow, a native of Perqui mans County, had retired from Edenton United Methodist Church. ? - He was a member of Immanuel - ' Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Iona Goodwin Winslow; three da ugh - ters, Frances W. Byrum of Eden ton, Mary L. Bartel of Rockville, Md. , and Shirley Stephens of Have r* lock; a sister, Mary W. White of k . Elizabeth City ; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Thursday, July 21, in Immanuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Ashby ?? Browder and the Rev. Ralph Epps. Burial was in Beaver Hill Ceme tery. Williford-Barham Funeral Home handled the arrangements. WILLIAM WHITE William White, 73, of 4-C Sho shone Trail, Hertford, died Friday morning, July 21, 1989, in his home. A native of Pasquotank County, he was the son of the late Ernest M. and Mrs. Buena Godfrey White. He was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he had worked as a painter. Survivors include his wife, Caro lyn O. Hayden White; three daugh ters, Joyce Ann Wilkerson and Lo retta J. Baker, both of Chesapeake, Va. and Linda Carol Vinson of Vir ginia Beach, Va. ; three sons, Ken neth W. White of San Jose, Cal., Phillip E. White of Chesapeake, Va. and William L. White of Ports mouth, Va.; a step-son, James M. Terry of Rt. 1, Hertford; four sis ters, Margaret E. Whitley and Margie Coburn, both of Chesa peake, Va., Lillian Rash of Sum merville, Ga. and Marie McPher son of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Monroe F. White of Florida; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children. Funeral services were held Sun day at 3:00 p.m. in Swindell Fune ral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed die Brown officiating. Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. Mon day in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Contributions may be made to Alzhiemer's Research, 358 Mow bray Arch, Norfolk, Va. 23501. LEO J. DROZDOWSKI Leo John Drozdowski, 73, of 613 Pennsylvania Ave., died Sunday afternoon, July 23, 1989, in Albe marle Hospital. A native of Nutley, N. J., he was the husband of the late Helen Drozdowski. He was retired from American Cyanimid in New Jersey as a Security Guard. He had also worked with Cities Service Oil Re finery in Linden, N. J. Drozdowski was a Catholic and an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. Survivors include two sons, Lau rence Drozdowski of Rt. 3, Hert ford and Leo John Drozdowski, III of Clark, N. J.; a sister, Viola of Nutley, N. J.; two brothers, Stan ley Drozdowski of Port St. Joe, Fla. and Theodore Drozdowski of Ar kansas; and 7 grandchildren. Graveside services were held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery with Fr. Stephen C. Worsley officiating. Swindell Fun deral Home was in charge of ar rangements. Wednesday - lasagna, tossed salad, green beans, French bread, mar garine, fresh peach and milk. Thursday - bbq chicken, coleslaw, seasoned collards, whole wheat bread, margarine, brownie and milk. Friday - baked ham, candied sweet potatoes, buttered green peas, biscuit, margarine, congealed cherry jello with fruit cocktail and milk. AARP sets regular monthly meeting The monthly meeting of Chapter 4118 - Perquimans AARP, Inc. will be held Monday, July 31 at 2 p.m. at the Senior Center, Grubb Street, Hert ford. There will be a board meeting at 1 p.m. The Perquimans Emergency Medical Service will present an interest ing and informative program. The Perquimans Chapter of AARP is open to membership from all of the surrounding counties. Come visit and join us. SHIIP volunteers will be in area Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) volunteers are specially trained by the North Carolina Department of Insurance to help retired persons with their health insurance problems. There will be trained SHIIP advisors ready to help with your health insurance forms at the Hertford Senior Center every first Thursday of the month from 10:30-1 :00. Mrs. Elliott is the former Sheila Byrum. Historic ship available for fall, spring Albemarle sails The Historic Sites Section of the N. C. Department of Cultural Re sources now is scheduling fall and spring voyages for the Elizabeth II. This ship is North Carolina's representative 16th century sailing vessel. Since her maiden voyage in the fall 1985, the Elizabeth II has com pleted seven voyages to various ports in North Carolina, including New Bern, Beaufort, Wilmington, Edenton, and Washington. The Elizabeth II will be available to sail from its home port of Man teo during the fall of 1989 and the spring of 1990. Host ports must pay for voyage costs. These include travel and subsistence for crew and staff, as well as tugboat ex penses. Interest ports should plan for the ship to be open to the public in their community for a minimum of three days. For further information on po tential voyages of the Elizabeth II, contact James R. McPherson, Ad ministrator, Historic Sites Section, 109 E. Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27611.
