Latest Operating Room Technology...
Mobile SUrgical C-Arm System
A new piece of equipment that allows
surgeons to perform procedures from ac
tual images on a screen, is Chowan
Hospital's latest technological advance.
The "Stenoscop", a mobile surgical C
Arm system, decreases patients' time un
der anesthesia as surgeons are able to
continue procedures without interruptions.
Previously, surgeons experienced delays
while waiting for the x-ray film to be devel
oped in the Radiology Department and car
ried back to the operating room.
The mobile, C-Arm system, which
costs in excess of $100,000, may also be
used in ICU for placement of temporary
pacemakers and various catheters.
The equipment is also well suited for
performing orthopedic procedures such as
broken bones. Registered Radiologic Tech
nologists operate the C-Arm during sur
gery.
