Teens ages 13-18 will com pete in poise, beauty, talent and impromtu response areas. According to Brenda Dail, Perquimans High School Indus try Education Coordinator and one of the pageant’s coordina tors, the contestants have a vari ety of talent. Singing, dancing, . If you like crafts, the Indian Summer Festival is the place to be on Saturday. The Chamber of Commerce has reserved 40 spaces for talented artisans. Seventeen of those spaces will be filled by Perquimans County crafters. Others will travel to Hertford from as far away as Bedford. Va. and Tarboro. A wide variety of wood crafts will be available. Stools, ducks, cradles, toys, chests, tables, swings, chairs, gliders, rockers, shadow boxes, doll chairs, shelves and more will be on sale at the festival. Whether it’s a cradle for a special doll or a chest to hold treasures, those.; with young girls on their Christmas lists can And that Just-right gift. Every child needs a stool to climb on, and who can resist sitting on hand-crafted lawn furniture and enjoying the afternoons of Indian Summer? In addition to the wood items, those whose decorating tastes run to country will need to bring a large basket to take advantage of all the country crafts offered. Pillows, wall hang ings, handpainted wood items, floral arrangements, tin, hates, wreaths, dried apple baskets, raffia swags, dried flowers, rugs, )per strings and knick-knacks ' be up for grabs. For the child in all of us, sev eral crafters are offering dolls, decorated bears, rabbits, bal loons, ducks, and dinosaurs. Doll cloth C8 and accessories will also be on hand. Jewelery will also be in good supply. Indian, silver, leather. Staling silver, shell, potpourri, plastic and wood items will be on display. Hair bows and leather items to complement the fall wardrobe will add to the finds at the festival. Hand-knit sweaters, ceram ics, flags, toys, crocheted novel ties. tole painting, crockery, cross stitch, felt items, magnets, watercolor lithographs, plaster plaques, holiday ornaments, lamps, art, - you name it. you can probably find it at the In dian Summer Festival Saturday. Craft booths will open at 10 a.m. You might want to come early while the selections are at their best! Arts and crafts are the order of the day on Saturday during In dian Summer Festival.
