Tuesday - Chicken in Italian sauce, butter beans, carrots, roll, pears, milk. Wednesday - Beef stew, peas, bread, juice, milk. Thursday - Chicken fillet sandwich, tomatoes, turnip greens, cookies, milk. Friday - Spaghetti, corn, juice, bread, applesauce, milk. School meal menus The Perquimans County School System announces the school menus for April 24-28 as follows: Monday - Breakfast - Muffins, cereal, bread, fruit Xrr juice, mUk. Lunch - Philly steak sub or pizza, parslied potatoes, fruit cup, mixed greens, onion rings, milk. Tuesday - Breakfast - Steak biscuit, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Sloppy Joe/bun or ham and cheese/bun, potato wedges, succotash, broccoli, pears, milk. Wednesday - Breakfast - Cinnamon bun, bread, cereal, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Chicken pot pie, rib/bun, sweet potatoes, fried okra, peas, cherries, rolls, mUk. Thursday - Breakfast - Sausage biscuit, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Pork choppette/bun or hamburger/bun, tri taters, corn on cob, fruit cup, peas, milk. Friday - Breakfast - French toast fingers, cereal, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Lasagna, hot dog/roll, potato rounds, green beans, tossed salad, pineapple, rolls, milk. Health clinics The clinic schedule for the Perquimans Health Department from April 25-28 is as follows: April 25 - Prenatal clinic in the morning. April 26 - Eye clinic PRN. April 27 - Adult health clinic in the morning. April ^8 - Teen clinic in morning, general clinic in afternoon, pills/problems all day. Baseball clinic The Perquimans County Recreation Department will sponsor a Diamond City Baseball Inc. Hitting Clinic, using the new Shortstroke trainer, on May 6 at Perquimans County High School. The clinic will have two sessions: 9 a.m.-noon for ages 13 and up, and 1-4 p.m. for ages 9-12. Only the first 30 to sign up in each age group will be accepted, the feel is $20. For information, contact the Recreation Department at 426-5695. Athletic boosters The Perquimans County Athletic Boosters will meet Monday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Perquimans County Middle School. Old Timer’s game Former Lady Pirates softball players interested in participat ing in the first-ever softball Old Timer’s Game should meet at the PCHS softball field on Sunday, April 30 at 4 p.m. for practice. The Old Timer’s Game will be played on Saturday, May 13 prior to the Old Timer’s Baseball Game. Perquimans County Schools spring sports athletes and Booster Club members are selling tickets for the Old Timer’s Game sup per set for Saturday, May 13. The barbecue chicken plate tickets are $4. Karate tournament Dragon Combat Martial Arts Academy will hold a karate tour nament at the Washington County Recreation Karate Institute on Saturday, May 20 at 11 a.m. For information, contact SenSei Pete White at 426-1022. Dragon Combat students will hold a car wash at T&J Carwash at Harris Shopping Center on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. — Sf«r PCHS play — Michelle Hurdle Hurdle-Winslow Mr. and Mrs. Jack R. Hurdle of Hertford announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Hmrdle of Hertford, to Michael “Money” Winslow of Hertford, son of Alice Jeanne Winslow of Hertford and the late Johnnie Winslow. Miss Hurdle is a graduate of Perquimans County High School. She is employed at Rollinson-Hurdle Mrs. Mildred Brand of Avon and the late Mr. Louis A. Murphy Sr of Pungo, Va. announce the engagement of their daughter, Kim Rene Rollinson of Hertford, to Robert Wesley. Hurdle of Belvidere, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.T. Hurdle of Belvidere. Miss Rollinson is a graduate Military notes Marine Cpl. Glenn I. Baker, son of Nancy M. Murphy of Hertford recently was promot ed to his current rank and received a Certificate of Commendation. Baker was cited for superior performance, consistently per forming his demanding duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. Baker is currently assigned with Headquarters Company, 6th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune. The 1991 graduate of West Irondequoit High School of Rochester, N.Y., joined the Marine Corps in April 1993. The PCHS Drama Department is gearing up for its spring pro duction of the musical “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.” This comical tale of seven pioneers in search of wives on a frontier where females are scarce is based on the MGM film of the same name and “The Sobbin’ Women” by Stephen Vincent Benet. The play is set for Friday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the PCHS auditori um. Admission is $4. Tickets are available from cast members and at the door. Cholesterol screening Cholesterol screenings at Chowan Hospital will not be done on Thursday, May 18.
