School meal menus The Perquimans County School System announces the school menus for June 5-9 as follows: Monday - Breakfast - Super donut, bread, cereal, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Hamburger/bun or pizza, fries, winter mix, corn, fruit cup, mUk. Tuesday - Breakfast - Assorted breakfast items, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, mUk. Lunch - Pork choppette/bun and assorted sandwiches, potato wedges, peas, fruit cup, milk. Wednesday - Breakfast - Assorted breakfast items, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Health clinics The clinic schedule for the Perquimans Health Department flrom June 5-9 is as follows: June 5 - Prenatal a.m, family planning p.m. June 7 - Child health a.m. June 9 - General p.m, pUls/problems all day, eye clinic PRN. Senior Center trips The Perquimans County Senior Center has a trip planned for Friday, June 23 to visit Tangier Island. We will depart the Center at 5:30 a.m., stop for a quick iJreakfast on your own, then on for the cruise to Tangier. We will eat lunch at ^e Chesapeake House on the island, then tour the island as you would like until around 3 p.m. when we will return. We will stop for a dutch-treat dinner on the way home. Cost per person is $49 which includes bus fare, cruise and lunch. Deadline to sign up and pay is May 31. Our next trip is on Friday, July 21 to the Crystal Coast Passion Play, “Worthy is The Lamb,” in Swansboro. We will depart the center at 1 p.m. and travel to New Bern for dinner on your own. The program, which takes place along the White Oak River, is a musical drama of the life of Christ. We will return home after the play. Cost per person is $30. Deadline to sign up and pay is June 20. Representatives of several local agencies provided blood pressure, cholesterol, glau coma and glucose screenings. Seniors also enjoyed a pic nic lunch in Missing Mill Park. Murphy named executive chef at Pavo’s Restaurant Michael Murphy has been named executive chef at Pavo’s restaurant at Albemarle Plantation, the 1600-acre golf and marine com munity near Hertford. Owned by Kathryn and Grant Burgess of Elizabeth City, Pavo’s is open daily for lunch and for dinner by reser vation. It is iocated at the Albemarle Plantation Clubhouse overlooking the Albemarle Sound and the 18th hole of the Dan Maples- designed Sound Golf Links. Murphy specializes in California cuisine with a French accent on presenta tion. Murphy comes to Albemarle Plantation from the South Carolina resort commu nities of Hilton Head, Daufuski Island, and Palm Island, where he served as manager and executive chef for several restaurants. Plantation names sales manager Bingo American Legion Post 126 wUl sponsor bingo on the first and third Thursdays of each month beginning May 18 at 7:30 p.m. The events will be held at the legion hut on West Academy Street. Civic League meeting Perquimans County Civic League will hold its monthly meeting at Galatia Missionary Baptist Church, New Hope on Wednesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. Concert On Saturday, June 10, there will be a concert in the Missing Mill Park by The Heavenly Messengers at 3 p.m. This is sponsored by the Perquimans County Senior Center and a Grassroots Grant from the N.C. Whitney Stallings benefit There will be a meeting on June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the ParksviUe Ruritan Building to make final plans for the Whitney Stallings benefit sup per. Baccalaureate Baccalaureate services for the Perquimans High School Class of 1995 will be held Sunday, June 4 at Hertford Baptist Church at 3:30 p.m. Volunteers Volunteers are needed for the Perquimans Nutrition Site’s home-delivered pro gram. Call 426-8309 for info. Don Proffit has been named sales manager at Albemarle Plantation, the 1600-acre golf and marina community near Hertford. Proffit joined the Albemarle Plantation staff in 1993. He has extensive real estate experi ence in resort and golf commu nity sales on the Outer Banks and in Northeastern North Carolina. He and wife Robin live with their three labrador retrievers in Elizabeth City. Albemarle Plantation record ed its best sales performance of its five-year history in 1994, with $6 million in sales. Proffit is optimistic that 1995 will top another record-breaking year. Events will include music by D.J. Joe of Winfall, a cookout, and several contests to include: dance, rap, b-bob, comedy, and song (gospel and rhythrn/blues). All contest participants wiU appear on stage for 5-7 min utes. The crowd will judge each competition. Contest fees are $10 per individual and $20 per group.
