Practice schedules have been set for the upcoming show sea son. Football practice kicks off A new head coach will be at the helm when Pirate football kicks off next month. Andy Hunt has assumed the top coaching position. Hunt served as assistant football coach during the past two sea sons. He was recommended for the spot by Athletic Director Harrell Thach, who stepped down as head football coach last month. Thach wUl contin ue to serve as athletic director. Football players wUl be out fitted with helmets on July 15 from 9 a.m.-noon. There will be an organiza tional meeting on Friday, July 28 at 6 p.m. in the high school gym. All prospective football players must attend the meet ing in order to be eligible to begin varsity and junior varsi ty practices on Saturday, July 29 at 9 a.m. The varsity squad will host Northeastern High School on Aug. 18 at 7:30 p.m. Administrators go to school Three Perquimans County school administrators returned to the classroom recently to expand their man agement and leadership skills with new information in areas such as law and curriculum through programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel HIU. Randall Henion, superinten dent, was among the 30 partici pants selected to attend the UNC-CH program for superin tendents and assistant and associate superintendents. Christine Barber, Chapter I director, and Susan Winslow, early childhood specialist, were among 30 principals and county administrative staff chosen to attend the program for principals and superinten dents at UNC-CH’s Institute of Government.
