Page 2 - The Perquimans Weekly, Hertford, N.C., Thursday, August 10, 1995 Community Happenings Health screening The Durant’s Neck Ruritan Club will sponsor a free health screening on Saturday, Aug. 12,10 a.m.-2 p.m. Cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar testing will be offered. Registration for fall sports The Perquimans County Recreation Department has opened registration for the following fall sports: Youth soccer; Ages 7-9 and 10-12. The fee is $10. Midget football: Ages 10-13. The fee is $20. The following weight limits apply: 10-12-years-olds, 70-130 pounds; 13-year-olds, under 100 pounds. Flag football: Ages 7-9. The fee is $10. The age cut-off for all sports is Oct. 15. Sign up at the recre ation department by Sept. 6. Department hours are Monday- Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Cross-country Perquimans High School Cross-country practices are held each day at Hertford Grammar School at 5 p.m. All high school athletes interested in making the team should report. Boehling joins Edenton practice Dr. Peter Boehling visited Edenton on three occasions while being recruited by Chowan Hospital and the Eastern Carolina Women’s Center. The Board Certified, OB/GYN physician, who began practicing in Edenton July 25, said that he enjoyed every visit while touring the area, hospital and OB/GYN practice. “I like the small town, and I think it is a beautiful town,” Dr. Boehling said. “I also like working in a hospital with the practice nearby.” Chowan Hospital is located one block from the Eastern Carolina Women’s Center. Dr. Boehling comes to Edenton from Richmond, Va., where he has been associated in an OB/GYN practice for the past three years. Dr. Boehling earned an undergraduate degree in biolo gy from The College of William & Mary in 1984 and received his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1988. His OB/GYN residency was served at The Medical College of Virginia. He was named Best Resident Award for two consecutive years. Dr. Boehling is also a Fellow, American College of OB/GYN. Dr. P. Tuesday - Marinated chicken in Italian sauce, butter beans, car rots, roll, pears, milk. Wednesday - Beef stew w/gravy, garden peas, bread, cookie, juice, milk. Thursday - Chicken fillet sandwich, marinated tomatoes, turnip greens, cookies, mUk. Friday - Spaghetti, corn, juice, bread, applesauce, milk. Health clinics The clinic schedule for the Perquimans Health Department for Aug. 14-18 is as follows: Aug. 15 COLPO in the afternoon Aug. 16 - Child health clinic in the morning, followed with Dr. Slade (pediatrics) in the afternoon. Aug. 17 - Adult health clinic will be held all day. Aug. 18 - General health clinic in the afternoon, WIC will be held all day. Senior Center The Perquimans County Senior Center has a trip planned to go to the Old Dominion Opry in Williamsburg, Va, on Friday, Sept. 15. We will depart the Center at 3:30 p.m. and stop for din ner at the Chesapeake Square Mall. Then on to the Opry for the program at 8 p.m. Return home about 12:30 a.m. Cost per person is $28, which includes the Opry and your transportation. Deadline to sign up and pay is August 11. For more information call 426-5404. Other trips include one to see “Worthy is the Lamb” on Aug. 17. We will travel to New Bern for dinner, on yom: own, at The Sandpiper Restaurant. Then on to the 8:30 program in Swansboro. Sign up as soon as possible Cost per person is $30. We have an overnight trip planned for Sept. 19 and 20. We will travel to Asheboro to visit our state zoo. We will also visit Seagrove Pottery and the Burlington Outlet before we return home. We will stay at the Comfort Inn in Asheboro. Price for double is $90, three is $80, four is $75 for each person. This price includes one breakfast, one dinner, admission to the zoo and transportation. Sign up and pay as soon as possible. The trip ended with a tour of Tice’s home by (left to right) Paige Underwood, Mary Reed, Jeanne White and Mary Alice Brinn. A luncheon to honor Underwood on her retirement capped the visit.
