School meal menus The Perquimans County School System announces the school menus for Sept. 18-22 as follows: Sept. 18 - Breakfast - Steak biscuit, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Philly steak sub or pizza, fries, mixed greens, onion rings, fruit cup, mUk. Sept 19 - Breakfast - Scrambled eggs, toast, cereal, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Spaghetti/roU or steak nuggets/roll, lima beans, potato wedges, tossed salad, fruit cup, milk. Sept. 20 - Breakfast - Sausage biscuit, bread, cereal, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Pork choppette/bun or cheeseburger/bun, tri-taters, winter mix, baked beans, pineapple, milk. Sept. 21 - Breakfast - Pancakes, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch - Chicken pot pie,roll or rib sandwich, sweet potatoes, okra, green beans, baked apples, mUk. Sept. 22 - Breakfast - Cinnamon bun, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Health clinics The clinic schedule for the Perquimans Health Department from Sept. 18-22 is as follows: Sept. 18 - Prenatal clinic in the morning, family planning in the afternoon. Sept. 19 - COLPO in the afternoon Sept. 20 - Child health in the morning, followed with Dr. Slade (pediatrics) in the afternoon. Sept. 21 - Adult health clinic will be held all day. Sept. 22 - Teen clinic in the morning, general/pills/problems in the afternoon. Birthday calendars • Perquimans County band students at the high and middle schools are selling community birthday calendars. Calendars are $4 each. Listings - birthdays, anniversaries, meetings, memorials - are 50 cents each. Order from any band student. Pesticide containers Perquimans, Chowan, Gates (PCG) Solid Waste Management on Peirys Bridge Road in Belvidere will be accepting pesticide containers from all producers, Monday - Fridays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on a year-round basis. These containers must be properly rinsed, with booklets and lids removed. For more information, please ask your Cooperative Extension Agent or call the PCG office at 297-3300. Memory Lane Club The Memory Lane Senior Citizens Club will have a chicken salad luncheon on Friday, Sept. 15 from 1 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Senior Center. You may eat in or take out. Cost per ticket is $4 which will go to benefit members participating in the N.C. Senior Games in Raleigh. The Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Senior Center. NCCAP The Perquimans County NAACP youth will meet on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center. The program will be Stay In School Jam session. Fondella Leigh, youth council, is in charge. All school age youth are invited. Perquimans county NAACP monthly meeting will meet also on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center. Whitehurst family reunion A family reunion is planned for the descendants of William A. Whitehurst and Sarah Purdy Waterfield Whitehurst (daughter of Joseph Waterfield) on Oct. 7 at Munden Point Park in Virginia Beach. Diabetes and your heart The Albemarle Hospital Diabetes Information Group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. Dr. Lindsey White, a cardiologist on the Albemarle Hospital Medical Staff, will pre sent a talk on “Diabetes and Your Heart.” The group will meet in the Albemarle Hospital Education Center. Baby/sibling classes Chowan Hospital is sponsoring free Baby Basics and Sibling classes beginning Thursday, Sept. 21 with tiie Baby Basics from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Sibling class will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Subjects include diapering, new born care, bathing, tour of the Maternity Care Center and a video, “Hey, what about me.” Instructor is Beth Evans, BSN, Clinical Manager. Pettigrew Regional Library The Pettigrew Regional Library Board will meet on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library in Edenton. Chowan Drainage district The Chowan Drainage District No. 3 (Bear Swamp) wUl meet Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m. at Tommy Harrell’s shop on Bear Swamp Road. The Perquimans County Senior Center has a trip planned to go see “Oklahoma” on Saturday, Oct. 7. We will depart the Center at 12 p.m. to attend the 2 p.m. matinee. This is a production by the Commonwealth Musical Stage performed at the Pavilion Theatre in Virginia Beach. Cost per person is $2. Deadline to sign up and pay is Friday, Sept. 22.The Recreation Department and Senior Center has a trip planned to attend the State Fair in Raleigh on Thursday, Oct. 19. This is open to all ages. Cost per person is $15. Deadline to sign up and pay is Oct. 6 or until full. Mrs. Christopher James Stansbury Matthews- Stansbury Charlotte Lynn Matthews of Durham and Christopher James Stansbmy of Greenville were married at 4 p.m. on Sept. 9 at Anderson United Methodist Church in Hertford. The Rev. Wesley F. Brown offi ciated. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Hazel B. Matthews of Durham. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hazel Matthews of Hertford. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stansbury of Waldorf, Md. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white silk featuring an off-the-shoulder, sweetheart neckline and sweep train. She wore her mother’s veil, a man tilla with a deep lace border. She carried a full cascade of gardenias and English ivy. Maid of honor was Dahlia Dimitri of Gaithersburg, Md. Bridesmaids were Becky Bartelt of Waldorf, Md.; Mindy Graham of Panaima City, Fla.; Tamara Matheny of Zebulon; Peyton ThoreU of Raleigh and Carrie Tucker of Durham. The attendants wore floor length dresses featuring off- the-shoulder necklines in Valentine red. Engagement Kristy Marcia Saunders Saunders - Blake Mr. and Mrs. Morris Saunders of Hertford announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristy Marcia Saunders of Hertford to Garvin Randal Blake of Hertford son of Mr. and Mrs. BUly Blake of Hertford. Miss Saunders is a student at COA. Mr. Blake is a student at Perquimans High School. The wedding is planned for Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. at Great Hope Baptist Church-Hertford.
