Elderly for Nov.13-17 is as follows:
Monday - Chili con-carne, tossed salad, corn, rice, crackers,
brownie, milk.
Tuesday - Turkey a-la-king, collard greens, biscuit, peas &
onions, jello w/bananas, milk.
Wednesday - Barbecue pork,/roll,coleslaw, juice, stewed pota
toes, gingersnap cookies, milk.
Thursday - Barbecue chicken, vegetable medley, beets, Texas
toast, melon balls, milk.
Friday - Vegetable beef soup, pimento cheese sandwich, juice,
cookie, mUk.
School meal menus
The Perquimans County School System announces the school
menus for Nov. 13-17 as follows:
Nov. 13 - Breakfast - Ham biscuits, cereal, bread, fruit or juice,
milk. Lunch - Fish/bun or pizza, green Itmas, fries, vegetable
sticks, fruit cup, mUk.
Nov. 14 - Waffle, cereal, bread, fruit or juice, milk. Lunch -
Chicken pattie/bun or cheeseburger/bun, lettuce & tomato,
green peas, scalloped potatoes, applesauce, milk.
Nov. 15 - Breakfast - Sausage biscuit, bread, cereal, fruit or juice,
milk. Lunch - Sliced turkey/dressing/gravy or rib sandwich,
greens, whipped potatoes, corn, fruit, rolls, mUk.
Nov. 16 - Breakfast - Pecan twirls, cereal, bread, fruit or juice,
milk. Lunch - Peanut butter & jelly or grilled cheese sandwich,
vegetable soup, baked potato, fried okra, fruit, milk.
Nov. 17 - Breakfast - Egg & cheese burrito, cereal, bread,
fruit/juice, milk. Lunch - Spaghetti or steak nuggets, potato
rounds, green limas, tossed s^ad, baked apples, roUs, milk.
Health clinics
The clinic schedule for the Perquimans Health Department
for week of Nov. 13-17 is as follows:
Nov. 14 - Prenatal clinic in the morning.
Nov. 15 - Child health in the morning. Dr. Slade (pediatrics) in
the afternoon.
Nov. 16 - Adult health clinic wUl be held aU day.
Nov. 17 - General health clinic in the afternoon, WIC program
will be held aU day.
Senior citizen trips
The Perquimans County Senior Center has a trip planned to
attend the First Baptist Church of Norfolk Christmas program
“Christmas Celebration ‘95.” We will depart the Center on
Friday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. to attend the 7:30 p.m. performances. We
will not stop for dinner. Cost per person is $25 and includes the
bus fare and orchestra seats. This program will be at the
Harrison Opera House in Norfolk, Va. Sign up as soon as possi
ble. Deadline to sign up is Nov. 15.
Another trip is planned for Dec. 1 to go to Coleman’s Nursery,
Chesapeake Square Mall and drive through Celebration of
Lights in Newport News. We wUl depart the Center at 1 p.m. and
go to Coleman’s Nursery first, then the mall and the lights last.
Cost per person is $15. Sign up and pay by Nov. 22. For more

Band fruit sale
Perquimans County Schools band students are selling citrus
fruit. The annual sale wUl end Nov. 30. Prices are: pink or white
grapefruit, hamlins or tangelos, $16 per box and $8.50 per half
box; navel oranges, $18 per box and $9.50 per half box; and mixed
boxes of hamlins, tangelos and grapefruit, $17 per box. Monies
are to be coUected when orders are taken. The fruit will be deliv
ered on Dec. 9. For information or to place an order, call fruit

EC.H.S. varsity basketball
team plays Navy in benefit
The Perquimans High School varsity basketball team will
face a U.S. Navy squad from the U.S.S. Eisenhower on Saturday,
Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the P.C.H.S. gym. Game proceeds will ben
efit Perquimans County Special Olympics. Admission is $2.

The Perquimans County Senior Center has a painting class
scheduled for Monday, Nov. 27, from 1-5 p.m. at the Center. Doris
Grubbs, instructor, will be teaching the Bob Ross techniques of
painting. Everything will be supplied by the instructor for a cost
of $30 per person. You should complete a 16x20 canvas during
the 4 hoxu* class. You will need to sign up and pay at the Senior
Center. Open to the first 15 to sign up. For more information call

Paint Swap Day will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m.-noon,
at the Gates County Schools Maintenance Garage, Gatesville.
This is located behind the Gatesville Elementary School.
Unwanted paint wUl be accepted free from residents. Also, per
sons wanting paint may pick some up. Persons dropping off
paint are urged to arrive as early as possible during this event.
This free event is designed to accept paint only, and will not
accept varnishes, thinners, or other hazardous waste. The event
is sponsored by Albemarle Regional Solid Waste Management

granddaughter of Mrs. Page
Lewis of ThomasvUle and the
late Mr. Lewis.
The groom is the son of
John and Darla Matthews of
Hertford. He is the grandson of
Mrs. Janie Crayton of Hertford
and the late J.J. Crayton of Mt.
Pleasant, and Mr. Vivian
Matthews of Hertford and the
late Spivey Matthews.
Given in marriage by her
parents and escorted by her
father, the bride’s gown was of
silk Shantung with pearh
edged, deep scooped neckline
and short tapered sleeves. The
bodice was covered with
pearls and French satin
sequins. The back of the gown
was decorated with a large
bow accented with clustered
beads and ended in a chapel-
length train. The fingertip veil
of illusion fell from a barrett
covered with sUk loops accent
ed with beaded leaflets. The
bride carried a nosegay of min-
uette, tineke, and jacaranda
roses and baby’s breath.

The monthly meeting of the
Albemarle Federation of

The Perquimans High
School S.A.D.D. Club is spon
soring a used coat drive. Used,
clean coats for children, youth
and adults will be collected
and distributed to those in
need. Drop-off points are the
high school, Woodard’s
Pharmacy, The Perquimans
Weekly office and Dr. Jack
Boone’s office. Tags will be
pinned to the back of each coat
distributed bearing a S.A.D.D.
awareness message. Old
Towels and bath mats will also
be accepted for donation to the
animal shelter.

TOWN OF HERTFORD
PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE
The Town of Hertford Zoning Board of
Adjustments will meet on Monday,
November 20, 1995 at 7:00 PM in the
Municipal Building at 114 W. Grubb Street.
The purpose of this meeting is to consider a
conditional use permit for:
(1) A second floor one family apartment over
the Hertford Cafe located at 127 N. Church
Street. The property is zoned C-1.
(2) A second floor one family apartment over
a proposed commercial building at 602 S.
Church Street. The property is zoned O/I.

lace ribbon.
The groom’s father served
as best man. Ushers were

Park, brother of the bride;

fellowship hall followed the

The couple honeymooned in
Washington, D.C.
The bride is a graduate of
Georgia Southern University
in Statesboro, Ga. and is cur
rently a graduate student in
Mathematics at N.C. State
University.

Perquimans High School and
N.C. State University. He is a
graduate student in
Mathematics at N.C. State.
Except for the Sheriffs Department,
Dispatch Office and Emergency
Medical Services, all County Offices in
the Perquimans County Courthouse,
Courthouse Annex, Social Services,
Agricultural Extension Service,
Perquimans County Library and the
Perquimans County Recreation
Department will be closed on Friday,
November 10, 1995 for observance of
Veteran’s Day. The Water Department
will be closed but emergencies may be
reported to the Dispatch Office by
calling 426-5751.
