Senior nutrition site menus
Lunch menus for the Nutrition Program for the Elderly at
the Perquimans County Senior Center for July 6-10 are:
Monday - Beef stew, juice, pimento cheese sandwich,
brownie, milk.
Tuesday - Baked ham, turnip greens, peaches, sweet potato
patties, bread, cookies, milk.
Wednesday - Spaghetti w/meat sauce, tossed salad, corn,
bread, juice, mUk.
Thursday - Baked chicken, peas, fruit salad, augratin pota
toes, roll, carrot cake, milk.
Friday - Veal parmigiana, broccoli/cauliflower mix, man
darin oranges, noodles, bread, jello, milk.
Golf Tournament
The Hertford Downtown Merchants’ Association will spon
sor the Indian Summer Festival Golf Tournament on Friday,
July 17 at The Sound Golf Links, Albemarle Plantation. There
will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start for the captain’s choice format.
The entry fee is $200 per team, $50 per player. Call Jennifer

Chrome Pony Mustang Club
The Chrome Pony Mustang Club of Elizabeth City will
meet Tuesday, July 7 at the Marina Restaurant, Camden

Recycling telephone books
Telephone books and magazines may be recycled at the
convenience centers in Perquimans, Chowan and Gates
Counties. Please place the books and magazines into the recy
cling bins in the newspaper trailers.

the first in a series of historic, limited edition gold-plated
solid brass Christmas tree ornaments. The 1998 ornament
depicts the courthouse. Ornaments are $15 each and can
be ordered by paying a $7.50 deposit at the Chamber

The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Willis
Hobgood Sr., of Pinetops.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Nette Leo Chappell of Hertford
and the late William Penn
Chappell.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a formal
gown of white French satin
and lace. The gown was
designed with a sabrina neck
line and short sleeves. The bat-
tenburg lace covered the
bodice, flowing into a pointed
basque waist. The box pleated
skirt flowed into a full chapel
train. The large bow at the
waist featured extremely long
English net streamers
trimmed with lace. The bride
chose a fingertip veil of illu
sion arranged from a head-
piece of silk flowers and
pearls. She carried a cascading
bouquet of white bridal roses,
stephanotis and greenery.
Maid of honor was Kathy
Newsome of Greenville.
Bridesmaids were Bebe
Purcell of Wilson; Lori
Chappell of Hertford, sister of
the groom; Anita Hobgood of
Pinetops, sister-in-law of the
bride; and Ella Sue Coates of
Hertford, sister of the groom.
Casey Hobgood of Pinetops,
niece of the bride, was junior
bridesmaid.
The attendants wore sheath
gowns of black crepe accented
with a bow and streamers in
the back.
