and Mr. David Andrew Hunt
Jr. were married at 2 p.m. on
Saturday, June 20, at
Macedonia Baptist Church by
the Rev. Bob Young.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Thomas
Parrish of Edenton. She is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph A. Bazemore of
Askewville and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Andrew A. Parrish
Sr. She is the great-grand
daughter of Mrs. Viola J.
White of Askewville.
The bridegroom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. David Andrew
Hunt Sr. of Mocksville. He is
the grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Armon Hunt of Denton, and
the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Steele. He is the great-grand
son of Mrs. Flora Johnston of
England.
Wedding music was provid
ed by Mrs. Beverly Young,
pianist, and Ms. Beth Hunt,
flautist. Vocalists were Philip
Huey and Elmer Overton Jr.

Senior nutrition site menus
Lunch menus for the Nutrition Program for the Elderly at
the Perquimans County Senior Center for July 27-31 are:
Monday - Glazed baked ham, snap beans, juice, scalloped
potatoes, rolls, jello, milk.
Tuesday - Barbecue chicken, butter beans, pineapple slices,
macaroni & cheese, roll, cookies, milk.
Wednesday - Swedish meatballs, broccoli, juice, rice,
bread, gravy, brownie, milk.
Thursday - Chicken pot pie, baked apples, corn muffins,
jello fruit salad, milk.
Friday - Cheeseburger, baked beans, coleslaw, fruit cob
bler, milk.
Recycling telephone books
Telephone books and magazines may be recycled at the
convenience centers in Perquimans, Chowan and Gates
Counties. Please place the books and magazines into the recy
cling bins in the newspaper trailers.
Open Door hours
The Open Door food pantry will be open 10 a.m.-noon on
Mondays only until further notice. Call the Open Door at 426-
7776 for information.

The Elizabeth City State University Laboratory School is
now accepting applications for the 1998-99 academic school
year. The Laboratory School serves children between the
ages of 3 nd 5 years old. The school’s program offers children
an innovative educational program geared toward fostering
the development of the total child. For more information, call
335-3374, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m.
and 1 p.m.

The Perquimans Chapter of the American Association of
Retired Persons will meet Monday, July 27 at the Perquimans
County Senior Center in Hertford.

Gail Carnagua of Cary.
A wedding reception was
held at the American Legion
Post 40 in Edenton immediate
ly following the ceremony.
Following a trip to
Charleston, S.C., the couple
will make their home in
Raleigh.

Caroline Ste. Basnight of
Manteo and Gavin Ryan
Shannon of Southern Shores,
were married at 4 p.m. on July
11 under an old oak on the
Roanoke Sound at the Baum’s
Point home of the bride’s par
ents. Rev. William Holliday
officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
N.C. Senator and Mrs. Marc
Basnight of Manteo. She is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Lessie
Tillett of Wanchese and Mrs.
Cora Mae Basnight of Manteo.
The groom is the son of Dr.
and Mrs. Barry Shannon of
Southern Shores. He is the
grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Archie Riddick of Hertford
and Mrs. Melba Shannon of
Kitty Hawk Village.
The bride chose a full-length
gown of white satin featuring
an off-the-shoulder neckline
appiiqued with lace and seed
pearls. She carried a bouquet
of peach and white roses.
Vicki Francine Basnight,
sister of the bride, was maid of
honor. She wore a full-length
gown of jade green.

birthday treat
Josh Cram of Perquimans
County celebrated his 14th
birthday at Channel 3 TV sta
tion in Norfolk, Va. Josh was
selected after a write in on
“Why you’d like Dinner with
Dave."
After a tour of the TV sta
tion, dinner was served on the
weather deck of WTKR with
Pete Grigsby e.Kplaining all of
the weather equipment and
answering all of the group's
questions.
Josh was permitted to invite
20 guests to attend. After din
ner, Melissa Banks presented

Manteo High School and will
attend UNC Chapel Hill this
fall.
The groom is a graduate of
the U.S. Merchant Marine
Academy.
