Lunch - Chicken nuggets or beef rib, broccoli, black- eyed peas, fries, biscuit, mixed fruit, mUk. Tuesday - Breakfast - Pancakes or waffles. Lunch - Spaghetti or ham & cheese sandwich, tossed salad, fries, green beans, pears, roU, milk. Wednesday - Breakfast - Sausage biscuit. Lunch - Corn dog nuggets or barbecue sandwich w/slaw, fries, green peas, baked beans, fresh fruit, mUk. Thursday - (PCMS) - Breakfast - Muffins. Lunch - Fried chicken w/roll, or sausage dog, greens, whipped potatoes, corn, strawberries, mUk. (Other schools) Breakfast - Pecan spins. Lunch - Chick fillet sandwich or cheeseburger, winter mix, carrots, peaches, fries, milk. Friday - Breakfast - Steak biscuit. Lunch - Taco w/lettuce & tomato or fish nuggets, potato rounds, limas, pinto beans, hush puppies, applesauce, milk. ARHS Clinic schedule The Perquimans County Health Department announces its schedule for April 2-6 as follows: Monday - Women health services in the morning, prenatal in the afternoon, WIC all day. Tuesday - Pediatrics all day. Wednesday - Child health in the morning. Friday - General health and WIC aU day. The Perquimans County Health Department is located at 103 Charles St., Hertford, phone 426-2100. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. There is a fee based on income. Patients are seen by appoint ment except for immunizations, sexually transmit ted diseases and general. Other services offered through* ARHS include: Albemarle Rehabilitation Services, 338-4044; Albemarle Home Care, Albemarle Hospice, Jeff Jones HIV Care Consortium, 338-4066; Diabetes Care, 338-4370. Nutrition site menus Menus for the nutrition site at the Perquimans Senior Center for April 2-6 are as follows: Monday - Chili con came, garden salad, spiced apples, rice, dessert, milk. Tuesday - Oven baked porkchoppette, snap beans, juice, roll, mashed potatoes, dessert, mUk. Wednesday - Honey baked ham, steamed cabbage, orange slices, corn muffin, boiled potatoes, dessert, milk. Thursday - Barbecue chicken, peas, applesauce, roll, buttered noodles, dessert, mUk. Friday - Beef stew, peaches, crackers, dessert, milk. Turtle Golf Classic The Perquimans County Chamber of Commerce (PCCC) will sponsor the Third Annual Turtle Classic Golf Tournament on April 21. The 9 a.m. shotgun start will be held on the Sound Golf Links at the Albemarle Plantation. Cost per 4-person team is $240. Individuals can register, and be placed on a team for $60. A buffet lunch of pork loin in gravy and white-meat chicken medallions in wine sauce is included. Registration is limited to 30 teams. Deadline for payment is April 4. To register, call the PCCC at 426-5657. Fastpitch softball camp There will be a free fastpitch softball camp for girls ages 9 to 14. It will be on Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The camp wUl be at the PCHS soft- ball field. Permission slips must be signed by par ents prior to the camp date. Republicans to meet The Perquimans County Republican Executive Committee will meet at Captain Bob’s at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 3. The meeting is open to all county Republicans. For more information, call 426-2254. Band Boosters meeting The Perquimans County Band Boosters wUl meet on Tuesday, April 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the PCHS band room. Athletic Boosters meeting The Perquimans County Athletic Boosters will meet on Monday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the PCHS information highway room. More Happenings Historic district fund raiser The Parksville and Bethel Ruritans will be cook ing barbecue chicken plates Saturday, March 31, to aid efforts by the Town of Winfall and the Bethel community to raise matching grant monies for National Register Historic Districts. The joint effort will be held at the Parksville Ruritans building in Winfall. Tickets are $5. Plates can be picked up from 4-6:30 p.m. Tickets are available from Riverside Antiques, Beechtree Inn, Winfall Town Office, Parksville Ruritans, Winfall Town Council members and employees, and individuals in the Bethel com munity. Money raised over the amount needed for the grant match will go to the Ruritans. RELAY FOR LIFE Fundraising teams are forming now for the American Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE 2001 to be held June 1 and 2. The goal this year for Perquimans/Chowan is $110,000 and more teams are needed from Perquimans County in order to reach that goal. Asthma awareness session There will be an Asthma Awareness Session at Perquimans County Middle School on Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and information will be shared by Dr. Timothy Tolson, allergist and asthma specialist, and School Nurse, Lou Ann Jackson, RN. This program is spon sored by the Albemarle Pediatric Asthma Coalition. For more information, please call 426-5741. Albemarle Crisis Pregnancy The Albemarle Crisis Pregnancy Center will hold its annual fund-raising banquet, “A Season of Miracles,” Thursday, April 26, at 7 p.m. (Classy Basket Auction at 6 p.m.) at Leon Nixon’s Catering Facility on Hwy 32, Edenton. The guest speaker will be Rev. Johnny Hunter. Tickets are $10 for the catered dinner. For tickets or information please call the center at 338-1655. Women’s History month In honor of Women’s History Month, the fourth annual Mother/Daughter Tea will be held at Perquimans Middle School on Thursday, March 29, from 4-5:30 p.m. Susan Markham, executive director. North Carolina Equity, will be the special guest. The tea is open to all PCMS young ladies and their moth ers or female guardians. Please call Christy to reserve a seat. Scholarship golf tournament The Parkville Writan Club will sponsor a golf tournament at Sound Golf Links April 29. All pro ceeds win fund scholarships for Perquimans County High School graduates. Safety at schools meeting There wUl be a Safe Schools meeting for the com munity on Monday, April 2, 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. Discussion will include how to improve the safety of students in the schools and ways the community can help. 2001-2002 school calendar The 2001-2002 calendar for Perquimans County Schools was adopted by the Board of Education. Calendars wdl be sent home with report cards in April. Copies may also be picked up at any school or the central office. Adult softball remstration The Perquimans CountyKecreation Department is currently taking registration for teams for the 2001 Summer Slow-Pitch Softball League. Space will be limited to the first 8 teams that register. Registration cost is $150 per team. For information, contact Guy Webb at 426-5695. Trained volunteers will help individuals prepare tax forms such as 1040, 1040Z, 1040EZ, 2441 (child and dependent care credit), 8812 (child tax credit), and 8863 (education credits). Those wishing to take advantage of this service must make an appointment by calling the library at 426-5319. COA Gershwin musical set The new Gershurn musical “Crazy for You” will come to the COA Auditorium on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. The 1930s-style musical comedy is filled with a collection of Gershurn songs.
