Lowers Regional Distribution Center - A Northeast North Carolina Success Story
In 2002, Lowe’s Companies, Inc. formally announced the selection of Northampton
County as the location of their newest Regional Distribution Center (RDC). Just one-
quarter mile from Interstate'95, Lowe’s realized the value of this strategic location to
better serve their growing mid'Atlantic markets.
The Lowe’s Regional Distribution Center (RDC) opened earlier this year and con
tains over 1.4 million square feet under roof. The facility, the largest of the Lowe’s
RDC’s, represents a $90 million investment and now employs 540 persons with a
total workforce of 600 expected in the future.
Gary Brown, Executive Director of the Northampton County EDC, feels that
the Lowe’s RDC represents hope for families in the Northampton-Halifax
area. ‘T have had so many people thank me for Lowe’s coming to Northampton
County,” Brown commented. “Where
