Hertford teen murdered

No arrests have been
made in the case of a
Hertford teenager gunned
down in front of his home
on King Street just after 9
p.m. Thursday
Shakim Rolon Warren,
17, was struck by a bullet in
his upper body and was
pronounced dead at the
scene, according to
Hertford Police Chief Dale
Vanscoy.
Hertford police received
a caU that shots had been
fired at 9:22 p.m., according
to Vanscoy. An officer
arrived to find the teen
lying in the yard at 318
King Street. Vanscoy said
emergency medical person
nel were called immediate
ly and could detect no vital
signs.
The State Bureau of
Investigation and back-up
personnel were called in
and the crime scene was
secured. Scene investiga
tion continued until about
5:30 Friday morning.
Vanscoy said prelimi
nary interviews at the
scene led to a “person of
interest” from Edenton.
The Edenton Police
Department picked up that
person at his home. He was
confined on probation vio
lation charges, Vanscoy
said.

Camden shooting

Hertford

man involved in the early
April shooting and death of
an Elizabeth City woman
was arrested on an unrelat
ed charge Monday.
Thomas Harvin III, 49, of
Hertford was arrested and
charged with assault on a
female, Perquimans County
Sheriff Eric Tilley said
Tuesday.

County based Relay For Life
teams. Throughout the
month March and into
April, The Perquimans
Weekly bought our readers
the stories of area teams
and the driving force
behind their efforts to help
support the fight to elimi

been collecting on the
white plastic tree
scrunched in one corner of
the church.
