Perquimans County Sheriff Eric Tilley said one suspect was arrested last week but a second suspect is still being sought. Til ley would not disclose the sec ond suspect’s name or suspected whereabouts but said warrants are expected to be taken out on a male suspect who reportedly has fled the state. According to Tilley, Yanaula G. Stratikis, 24, of the 100-block of Fourth Avenue, faces a murder charge in con nection with the death of Broth Stratikis ers who was shot in the face with a shotgun around midnight at a home located on Albemarle Road near Harvey Point Road. She is being held in Albemarle District Jail without bond. Tilley said their investigation showed that Stratikis had origi nally left the state and travelled up north, but her family was able to convince her to return to Virginia where she apparently met with an attorney who con tacted the sheriffs department to arrange a meeting. Tilley and investigators met Stratikis at the Currituck Coun ty Courthouse last Thursday af ternoon and listened to what she had to say, he said. “Based on her story, which corroborated what the evidence shows, we believe her involve ment rose to the point of the statute which says she is to be charged just like the person who actually pulled the trigger,” Til ley explained. She was served with a murder warrant there and immediately taken into custody. Tilley says their investiga tion shows Stratikis aided and abetted the male suspect being sought before, during, and after the shooting. While he can not confirm the information, Tilley says he has heard that both Brothers and the male suspect are members of the same gang, but that the shooting was not gang related. According to court records, both Brothers and Stratikis were awaiting trial in Elizabeth City on unrelated charges at the time of Brothers’ death. Stratikis was charged with driving while impaired on Jan. 22. Brothers was charged last August with felony forgery of an instrument and felony uttering of a forged instrument. In October, he was charged with possession with in tent to sell and deliver cocaine. Brothers reportedly travelled back and forth between the Per quimans County residence and a home in Goldsboro, said Tilley. Investigation into the shoot ing is continuing by the sheriffs department assisted by the State Bureau of Investigation. ^0 W Fig 1M Rose Pointe to be sold at auction By CATHY WILSON Staff Writer STAFF PHOTOS BY CATHY WILSON The 2012 Week of the Young Child Children’s Festival was held Saturday at the Perquimans Recreation Center.
